Well, BJS had the courage to step through the ropes with Canelo, he had his orbital bone broken by the look of it, was well in the fight at the time it happened and made millions and millions of pounds.

Your boy didn't have the courage to fight Golovkin, won't fight Canelo and is chasing a shot to pieces welterweight.

what was your take on the fight tonight? I thought billy joe did a good of keeping canelo mainly to single punches but once canelo picked up his timing he was putting his hands more on billy joe and you could tell from round one billy wasnt liking them body punches.

 

This just reminded me of Lara.
Lara has been yapping his mouth about Golovkin for years now. So much that some have said that Golovkin is ducking him.
Yet I am pretty darn sure that Lara and his side have never actually reached out to make it happen. A case of: "We called you out, now you have to reach out to us in order to make this happen." Wtf?
Shut up, sit down and take a hard look in the mirror.

glad to hear it. i kinda saw it coming. these are some quotes of what i posted pre fight.
"first canelo will win foot position war, by keeping his front foot outside of bjs foot. then he will start to shoot straight rights at the pit of bjs stomach, alternating it with straight rights to his mug."

" canelo will be forcing bjs to react to his feints, making him ball up in anticipation, just to have his head put in the air by uppercuts."

i predicted 7th rd stoppage right before the fight. canelo started just a tad slower than i expected, lol.

 

Doo-Doo doesn't deserve a fight on Rhode Island community television let alone one with the biggest non-heavyweight draw in the sport.

 

Close, competitive fight. Shame his eye got broken. Canelo is a great fighter, who has the features of an elite fighter.

Features such as: corrupt judges and Mexican beef.

The only person (Floyd) who could beat him was someone had even more corrupt judges and probably an even bigger cheat. Sport is full of cheaters whether we like it or not.

 

One thing for sure BJS career is in the toilet.

It's possible to have done the lacing them up bit and retain the opinion that Billy Joe should've at least given himself a chance to abide.

It's also possible to have boxed without ever having experienced a fractured orbital bone. A contingent of Billy Joe's professional peers will criticize him, publically or privately, for retiring on the stool when he did. Of those, I'll grant you it's a smaller percentage who would have actually behaved differently if faced with the same scenario (the same injury, discomfort and panic) than it once would've been. Indeed, it seems Billy himself mildly reproached a comparatively green Daniel Dubois for surrendering on a broken orbital bone a few months back, only to tap out with the same injury in the defining fight of his twelve-year career. But we still have guys out there to whom the idea of putting it all on the line means something more than pre-fight hype, bravado or tall talking cliché, guys who wouldn't be left choking on their words if placed under the same degree of duress.


Be assured that there are boxers (amateurs, professionals, hobbyists) who would describe Billy Joe as a quitter after tonight, be it openly or in some moment off the record. Some will have suffered the same injury, others not. Some will just be woofin', holding others to standards they themselves couldn't meet, others not. That's no different to life in general.

I guess I'm saying you raise a moot (and tired) point. It's perfectly fair to criticize Saunders for giving up on himself so soon after encountering some significant discomfort that other boxers have fought and will fight through. His situation was not unprecedented, he just didn't have the kind of heart he thought he had (or, at least, bluffed he had).

It's Billy Joe's place to decide when he's had enough. It's every fight degenerate's place to factor Billy Joe's decision into his/her estimation of Billy Joe's overall quality or aptitude as a fighter.

There are weight divisions for a reason, until 2021.. now we can go up & down them with impunity getting stronger as we go.. great times, trust the science.

 

I don't think BJS's career is in tatters as such, but the question is rather his will to go on. He's in his 30's, had had a fairly long career, just had a massive payday and picked up a potentially serious injury. It might be hard to have the motivation to go on.

I mean, he could try and put himself in a position for a Canelo rematch, but who knows if Canelo even stays at 168 after likely beating Plant? If he doesn't all that is left for BJS is Canelo's left overs and the question is how much that will motivate him at this stage.
