he was a far better than vitali , better skills.Vitali had the physical advantages, reach distance weight power etc.But I am not sure Vitali KOs him.I am going to say Spinks by controversial decision.I think Michael is better than byrd
Vitali.. Michael exploited the overconfidence of Larry and Larry wearing out a little, and Vitali is just too big. The size difference makes it too uphill a battle.. I think Vitali wins by mid rounds stoppage.
Spinks had twice the skills or even more but at this point size is too much i think. If Spinks was born over 225 pounds and 6"4 he'd school him IMO. So much greater.
I think if we scaled Spinks up in size, power and durability he would just about be the best HW ever.
Spinks should never have gone up to HW in my opinion. Or, he should have retired after beating Larry. Vitali wins this and clobbers Spinks while doing it.
Of course he should have. Spinks got $1.2mil for a unification against Qawi who got the same, the biggest purse in 175 pound history. He got $1mil against Holmes and made history. He got $2mil in the rematch. He got $1mil against Tangstad. He got $4mil against Cooney He got $13.5mil against Tyson, more money than his entire career had earned. So there's $21mil+ and the ability to retire from boxing and never come back. If he stayed at 175 he would not have scratched the surface of 1/4 of that. If he had it all over again you can bet your left nut he is going at Tyson again.
He was chasing the money mate and Heavyweight was where it was at. I mean $1.2mil for a unification against Qawi when both were running hot is pretty depressing. Incredible really.
