So Canelo gets no credit for his body attack and defence? Wasn't a schooling. Billy mounted a good comeback after Canelo made him look slow in the early rounds. But Canelo always starts strong and ends strong. He was going to close the gap in the late rounds but didn't need to with that fight ending blow to the eye. Bill was right not to come out for the 9th. He was done. . Canelo would caused him even more damage. . No shame in pulling out when you know you can no longer win.
Calling it a schooling is far fetched and delusional. I had it 4-4 at the end of the 8th....crucially, the tide was turning for the championship rounds and Canelo was only going to ramp it up no matter if BJS had suffered that injury or not. Canelo connected that punch perfectly and to me the fight was unfolding just as i thought it would. BJS can walk away saying he done well for 7 rounds....but the big boys battle for 12!! I can honestly see BJS retiring....he wont fight on long enough to get his rematch!! Ps i also agree that the judges having it 6-2 for Canelo was wrong....5-3 perhaps more acceptable as 3 or 4 of the rounds were razor close to call imo
Yeah, I don't think Saunders enhanced his standing with this fight. He lost his 0, was stopped on his stool. He did box beautifully for a couple of rounds when he got going but that's no surprise. He sold the fight beautifully in the lead up but his talk would seem far less credible and the fight wouldn't draw as much interest. There's probably 5 fighters with a better claim to fighting Canelo after tonight simply by not having been ko'd by him, Saunders stock has dropped.
Going with two assumptions here. 1. You are a coward who's never stepped foot inside the ring 2. You have never seen a facial fracture in real life People like you are the reason people die in the ring.
No, I don't. Nor do I think his team would have put him out either. 1. He has a career to carry on with after this fight. Sustaining more damage to an eye you can no longer see out of ruins everything. 2. Canelo has a family - I don't really need to explain anything more than that. If you have a family, you should understand that. There is more to boxing than to finish a fight. You can lose on the day but come to fight again. If BJS had fought on for the next 1-2 rounds, then he could have been made permanently blind - if not worse. As soon as it happened Saunders stopped punching and was dropping his head below his waist to keep it as far away from Canelo as possible. Calling people quitters, cowards or a bum is pointless at this point. It just makes you look like a child. You lied above - if you have seen a facial fracture in person, you would not have wished he continued.
Finally someone with some sense. Canelo's team would have threw in towel if the situation was reversed.
I've also seen people die with what looked to be much less damage - so what? I get it, you don't like the guy, you don't like AJ and you would love to see either of them carried out of the ring without a pulse. That's on you for being immature and not really fully appreciating life yet, and that's fine - but you're wrong. It's not a reflection on them being 'cowards'.
Had it 5-3 to Canelo. Decent fight but not great. BJS was certainly in the fight and had some good middle rounds. Thought the entrances and crowd shots were great. Atmosphere was good. Felt like a big fight and I am interested to see Canelo/Plant.
Some of the posts from these kids are despicable. I assume they are kids, or I hope they are simply jacked up on emotions from the fight. Boxing pages on Facebook are littered with people calling him a bum, coward, ***** and the rest. It's unbelievable. Put their brother, cousin, father in that same situation - sick.
I don't wish serious injury on any boxer, my opinion is Saunders knew what was coming and sensibly got out.
BJS won maybe 3 rounds, you can say 4 if you really love him. But if you call going backwards and landing 5 power punches in 8 rounds "schooling" i am ok with that, seen far worse things on boxing forums...
I hope they are kids because then it's explainable. Neither team is sending their guy back out there if their guy can't see or has a broken orbital bone, ...
