His so called great engine is one of the biggest myths in British boxing.

If he wasn't Snr's son people would just say "who's this mug prancing around like he's something special". The only reason he looked half decent against Saunders, years ago, is because he spent the first half of the fight thinking that posturing and posing would be enough so he had enough left in the tank for later. He looked like a lost boy against Groves and didn't have enough left to get a one armed guy out of their in the final round.

I doubt BJS will fight again or he may come back for another fight then retire.

Let’s be honest, in reality he’s hardly been active or fighting top quality opponents over his career, it’s been stop and start, good performance to bad to great.

    Hopefully I’m wrong.

Agree. Against Groves he done nothing in first half of fight so had energy late on. He was outclassed. He slafs Saunders but the gap between him and Canelo was less than between Eubank and Groves.

I've never understood why Eubank Jr. is so massively overrated here?

Not thinking of any one poster in particular, but to put it simply- he is not very good.

Poor boxer, very little power, drifts in and out of fights routinely taking half a round off for no particular reason, quite easy to hit.

    What's the up side?

His alleged toughness. The only proof we have of that is the Groves fight, vs a badly faded Groves carrying various injuries and losing the use of one arm in round 11, he did fight with a bad cut, and gave it a good go.

His stamina? He doesn't consistently fight at a high pace, he is not a pressure fighter he fights in little spurts where he throws flurries of punches often missing with most of them. I think being in shape all year round which he undoubtedly is, is a good thing but if his engine is very good and that's his only major strength it's not really enough.

His best win to this date remains Yilderim. He's done absolutely nothing else of note and for all his training and dedication has been just as inactive as BJS.

Canelo would absolutely massacre him. He's too easy to hit and doesn't carry much power, Canelo would walk him down and beat him up before a brutal TKO.

    It's gotta be:
Caleb Plant vs. Canelo to unify the division.

Would love to see Ruiz vs. Whyte, think that would be entertaining. AJ vs. Whyte aswell after the Fury fight (win or loss).

I was saying this for years. He's a poor boxer but his aggression, athleticism and chin makes him a hard fight for anyone. Although Groves got the win and out boxed him 'technically' he had a torrid night with him physically. Constantly having to clinch and tie him up. It was probably that that contributed to his shoulder popping out in the 12th.

He's not too difficult to land on but if his opponent doesn't have the footwork and power to keep him honest he will eventually overwhelm them like he did with a shot Degale.

I think his technical deficiencies and inactivity put him at fringe world level. Although I think with the talk of Brook now, he's still only really interested in picking on the carcasses of former world champs for bigger paydays and least resistance.

He's an athlete no doubt, great genetics, looks in better shape 6 months out of camp than many fighters a few weeks away from an actual fight!

I do question the great chin though. Apart from Groves, he's never faced anyone of note, I think him having a great chin is largely based on speculation and has become a popular opinion without too much being it. The version of Groves he faced was so badly faded, George was sadly physically falling apart after many many hard 12 round fights. I agree Eubank did put him under pressure at times, but that was more to do with Groves physical weakness which invited it. Haven't seen that fight in ages though, so maybe need to re-visit it.

He's aggressive at times and can be good to watch, but it's rarely very effective aggression and it's too sporadic IMO.

I think he's one of the most delusional fighters in the world in terms of the fights he wants and thinks he somehow has a God given right to on account of his surname. Canelo? Golovkin? Charlo? Andrade?

He's done nothing to earn any of those fights and won't get any of them, all of them would beat him, Canelo would absolutely destroy him.

He should look to the domestic scene, where there are some good realistic fights for him but he thinks he is above most of that.
