Talent yes, dedication? No. Kids coming up need to watch how Floyd and the likes of Canelo have maintained their success. But more importantly their attitude in the early stages. Stay in the gym, stay in shape, stay active, stay focused on nothing else but boxing, no BS. Having talent and fighting once a year ain't gonna cut it.
He’s had a great career and done very well for himself financially. I do believe he lacked discipline and at times wasn’t promoted correctly. After that Lemieux fight he should have been straight back in the ring with someone like Dirrell. Instead he put on over 20 pounds and ended up fighting Adamu. I get he had the failed test but he should have been out in April/ may that year. IMO would have loved De Gale, Groves, Smith, Eubank and BJS under one banner fighting each other in a super six. Got part of it in WBSS but few like we missed a lot of big boxing nights in the UK
I didn't say that I said he spent years calling the big names out, but somehow managed to not fight them. BJS would have you believe it was because they were all ducking him for easier fights. Those big names, Canelo, Golovkin, Jacobs etc all managed to fight each other though all the elites fought the elites. But they ducked the guy with no power and padded record? Righhhhht Then finally he has his first taste of elite competition and mounts minimal offense and gets stopped, being shown to be not elite like he always claimed So a great fighter, no, a great career, absolutely not. A good fighter with a career of cleverly picked opponents
You can have all the talent in the world, but if you have the wrong attitude and lack dedication it counts for nothing. He's a two weight world champ and has only fought one world class fighter in canelo. He's made plenty of money although his lifestyle of cars and watches isn't cheap, So if he does retire, I expect to see him back in 4 or 5 years time when the money has run out. His problem will be, he doesn't have a fan base.
2 weight world champion is as tedious as his videos in which he teaches men to punch their wives. He had one real world ttile fight-last night and he lost. Talented but no discipline.
I remember him when he was much younger saying he wasnt ready for Golovkin but would be in 18 months. Never turned the fight down as I'm sure he has never been offered it.
He said ill be honest, with fighter like GGG you wait for him to go through some wars and catch him on the way down. Not exact quote but thats what he said.
Absolutely bang on about Billy coming from no privilege and growing up in a deprived community. His antics outside the ring are probably reflective of that, travellers do not judge each other how the likes of myself would judge them. That's their context and people like me can't really relate. He is a role model to that community and he (and the Fury's) would have inspired many within it. Credit to him for that and the success he's had. Up to now, BJS has achieved a lot lot more than Junior. The latter needs to pull his finger out now instead of publicly mocking Saunders. Hopefully his next fight is a world title one.
That's the reason we haven't seen him in more proper world title fights or proper fights. He knows he puts bums on seats due to his name, as a result he knows he can get money without having to challenge anyone. Only time he's challenging is if it's for a big money fight, or he thinks there's a weak world championship he can get then use it as a bargaining chip for a big money fight. He's absolutely classless, not going to follow someone who's objective is to take the least path of resistance, I honestly can't wait until he ****s off.
Apparently his injury is REALLY bad. Looks like his first fight against elite opposition was also his last fight against elite opposition. You hear stories about fighters who sustain an injury like that and feel immense pain when RUNNING, let alone fighting.
