He wasn't "clearly" beating Canelo, and even if he was officially ahead that's absolutely meaningless after 7 rounds. He was going to lose every round from round 8 onwards even without the punch that cracked his eye socket. Thats because he was tiring and Canelos power was getting to him. Saunders was on his way to getting stopped one way or another from Canelos power. Even if he survived or avoided that eye punch he was going to get absolutely punished the next 5 rounds losing all of them. So GTFO with that Saunders was ahead BS. Just like Wilder vs Ortiz, that doesn't matter from the end result or what was going to happen. If they fought again with a 100% healed eye Saunders would get KTFO some other way. Like from perfectly timed liver shot that leaves Saunders wincing on the floor. Canelo is greater than Saunders and the way Canelo outsmarted Saunders this weekend showed it.
Billy isnt going to be rematching Canelo or indeed fighting for quite a while. It wouldnt shock me if he retired to be honest.
[QUOTE="I don’t even think Beterbiev will beat him no matter how badly he brutalizes Canelo. If he knocks Canelo down, look for the ref to call it a slip and give him thirty or forty seconds to recover. Boxing is more corrupt than ever and no fighter benefits more than the ginger man from Mexico. GGG should fight him, take the decision L and cash in his chips for retirement."
Id be willing to bet you good money if they ever make the fight that Canelo beats him very convincingly or even stops Beterbiev
Id be willing to bet you good money if they ever make the fight that Canelo beats him very convincingly or even stops Beterbiev
canelo can tee off on beve at will, and never miss. how many hooks to his head from red you think beve can take? and how many of those swinging mallets you think beve can land on a guy twice as fast, with 10 times the legs.
Billy joe will stay far far away from canelo now man. Canelo most likely traumatized him, and dont be surprised if BJS retires after this.
Rounds 4-7 Saunders was doing really well and sticking to a gameplan. Then round 8.............he got battered, broken and retired. You don't usually see rematches change in the manner where it would start off where Saunders was doing well, you'd more than likely see it pickup with Canelo stalking even more aggressively now that he knows Saunders will fall apart physically if he presses the gas hard enough. I don't need to see a rematch to realize that.
He got dismantled and Canelo would have most likely put him on his behind in the next coming rounds. No rematch is needed.
