For someone of Golovkins skills and fearsome power, how come he never succeeded in becoming the cash cow that Canelo did? Bad promoters?

He actually was HBO´s biggest draw at the time. His ratings were solid. And his live gates did great numbers.
However, they did not translate over to PPV numbers. This, until Canelo came along.

Also, Golovkin never really made it to the top. He somewhat quietly picked up his belts while capturing highlights. There never was this "oh ****, he beat that guy" moment.
It´s also why he stayed at MW. He was always waiting for his moment.

Smith and Angulo are worse than Jacobs, Lemieux, Murray, and Stevens. Canelo was called a duck because he held the WBC MW and lineal MW titles and defended those belts.

GGG chose to stay and dominate middleweight. That in itself is completely fine. But the division was barren. He should have moved up. I get **** for the following but I don't care because it's the same thing. Marvin Hagler did the same. Guys moved up to fight him and his division was mediocre. He kept complaining about no one wanting him too.

Maybe, or maybe those guys you mentioned would have beat him. We will never know unfortunately.

That list is suspect. I think Sturm was primarily known for fighting in Germany and getting hometown decisions. Quillin would have been fun, but he would be doing nothing for GGG's resume right now. Martinez had one good leg when Golovkin came around. Cotto took an opportunity to beat up a shell of Martinez and admitted he wasn't a real middleweight.

Its common knowledge that Delahoya made a public announcement that Canelo needed 16 months to grow into the weight, even though he regularly outweighed GGG on fight night while competing at 154lbs.

He fought in Germany for way to long even though he knew they'd never let him fight for the title there they used him to protect the champ

Did Floyd ever face the top 5?? Has Canelo ever faced the one you claim GGG ducked ?? NO He fought GGG & really lost both times but got bogus decisions
Did GGG ever duck Canelo saying " I'm not really a middleweight so I cannot defend the bogus title against GGG he's too Big I'll give it back because I'm a coward " ? No but Ginger did Hence his countrymen disowned him & named him El Pollo Rojo Yet you STILL worship him

Easy He wasnt a US or Mexican fighter He was an Eastern European plus I doubt he'd have wanted to be a manufactured champion like Canelo is, he has more pride he's a fighter

You are so easy to read. You build up the 2 guys that should have a win over Canelo to God status while trying to downplay anything GGG has done. Lara is a excellent fighter but went life and death twice with Martirosyan who GGG demolished and turned into a bum, simply because GGG demolished him. Trout is chinny and would have been called a bum today if he ever got into the ring with GGG. Basically it would have looked like the Rolls fight. He would have looked nice in the highlight reel, i wish it would have happend because that would have been fun. Of course you all would call him a bum and say GGG was fighting smaller fighters. Smith? Please, he would be a fun beatdown, he would have gotten beat worst than Murray. Angulo? What a fun massacre that would be, GGG would get no credit and Angulo would go to the bum pile. Derevyanchenko would beat Trout, Smith and Angulo for sure, and would be a fifty/ fifty fight with Lara and that giving Lara the benefit of the doubt. Those guys you mention may have been big wins for Canelo, but they would have been highlight reel bums for GGG. I for one would have loved to see them added to the highlight reels along with the 36 others.

He had to live and learn. GGG showed up at Abel Sanchez gym with just his gym bag.
