He quit after suffering an eye injury where others have fought through with a similar injury This especially after he ridiculed DuBois.
He is a marginal talent who quit on his stool in the biggest fight of his career. What promoter can salvage that? Perhaps someone can but it'll be a high hill to climb. The quitter stigma will be tough to overcome for someone at his talent level.
Especially with his personality.

 

Canelo has no reason to rematch him. That isn't going to happen.

It is crazy, obviously I didn't know how bad that injury was at the time but it was clear his cheekbone disappeared.

The fact is BJS has part of his skull detached, DETACHED, and people on here think he should have carried on and I think it's simply because they wanted to see him sparked.


I'm pretty sure there are many people on these boards that are tough, hard and have a high pain barrier but having your orbital bones depressed might make you change your mind on how much you want to go on.

 

We all say things or believe things or think we would handle things certain ways until they happen to us.

I agree, BJS shouldn't have said those things bout Dubois, but he wasn't the only one, many other ex pros and current pros said the same.

Ok different levels, but Dave Allen said he'd never quit, said AJ quit against Ruiz and then Price punched the fight out of him a few months later.

Fighters have to believe they are invincible, they have to believe they won't bend or fold, basically fighters talk a lot of crap.


It sounds like to me people wanted BJS knocked out and didn't get it, so they are a little salty, so now after knowing the extent of the injury they still believe BJS should have basically gone blind to prove something or take satisfaction in the fact he ended up blind.. I don't know what people wanted.


I asked the question the other night and didn't get an answer, if Canelo threw a right hand at BJS and dislocated his shoulder, was one armed and was pulled out.. is that a "quit job"?

Like him or not, Canelo is the face of boxing these days. I'm not sure if that's the case in Britain, but in the US and Mexico it's true.

He's a huge money maker for everyone involved. With that position comes certain influence and benifits.

Everyone (almost) eventually loses but I don't see Canelo losing for a while.

He is almost impossible to beat on points. He has a great chin and pretty good defense. His counterpunching makes opponents tentative.

He can pick and choose who he fights.

He will be tough to beat for quite a while.
