This man defeated everybody in front of him at World Elite Level, has a tremendous knockout ratio, and was never wobbled even once in his entire career. No known weaknesses in his game. If that's not ATG material, then I don't know what is.
"OMG this guy's best win is Martin Murray!" "Can you believe his best win is like Kell Brook?" "A guy whose best win is Derevyanchenko" "The best guy he beat was Macklin ffs" "LOL and his best win was Geale" "Golovkin peaked when he beat Lemieux" ... etc Variations of posts I've seen over the years here. For all the hate, GGG sure does seem to have a lot of 'best wins'. Maybe the haters should take a conference call and thrash out once and for all who Golovkin's best win is? Going on like this you make it seem like he's got a lot of good wins and that won't do if you are trying to tear him down.
It's easy to up your best win when they majority of your resume is full of C level guys and no hopers. For years GGG's best win was Murray until he beat Jacobs, that tells you alot about him. Don't get mad at me because you can't stand the truth. GGG took more step aside money than any fighter in recent memory. He also could've had a legacy fight with Ward which he ducked win lose or draw it would have helped him. I said he's probably a HOF fighter but he's NOT a ATG, that's not hating those are facts. What more do you want?
That being your opinion of course. And there I agree with you. He should have forced Cotto to defend his belt or drop it. There can also be an argument formulated which shows Ward wasn't keen on fighting him. You've seen it. Again, a matter of opinion. But, OK.
How can you be an ATG when your best win is Jacobs??? Can you please tell me? Every top 80 ATG has a better win than Jacobs hell every top 100 ATG does as well. Just because you like a fighter and think they were great doesn't mean they're a ATG. You have to judge them by their accomplishments and resume and GGG's resume isn't good no matter how you spin it. His long run at MW is what will probably get him into the HOF but that's about it.
I'm looking at Hopkins' soft MW run and thinking Golovkin's looks better than than. Hopkins is considered an ATG. You do the math.
Do you think that Jacobs is so low level? I had now had lurked in the same U.S based boxrec. Jacobs had lost only vs GGG and Canelo via decision. Only Pirog, who by your assumption is unproven ( maybe because he is from Russia, if he was from U.S, most likely you had posted that Pirog is proven fighter ) had finished Jacobs in distance. Jacobs then was undefeated with 20-0-0 ( 17 KOs ) pro record before he had Pirog in the ring. Today looks that Jacobs is ranked #4 in boxrec. Still Pirog for you most likely was bad boxer because he is from Russia?
Brook, Geale, Murray and Lemiuex as your best win(s) is laughable and does nothing prove the point of anybody saying that GGG's résumé is ****.
What stuff is amazing: ppl saying that Jacobs was not good with this indirectly devalue not only GGG or Pirog's resume, they with this their argument devalue also Canelo's resume cos Jacobs lost decision not only vs GGG, also vs Canelo.
I guess some guys really hate this era, what can I say? And yet when GGG came to America people were rattling on about how good the talent level was. Now that they have all been made to look like bums, I guess opinions have changed. It usually happens when there is a very good, dominant fighter in the heap.
Jacobs is decidedly average, and us literally nothing more than a footnote in the weakest middleweight era of all time. His résumé is non-existent outside of a win over Derevyanchenko - which he didn't even deserve - and he's about as impressive as Robbie Sims on film. Hardly something you'd write home about and claim you're an all-time great. I'm from the UK, if Pirog was American and had the exact same achievements, I'd still call him unproven. Furthermore, I never said that Pirog was bad, I said he was unproven. Stop putting words in my mouth and stop trying to paint me as some xenophobic, please and thank you.
I find it incredibly hard to believe people were raving about how good the level of talent was, when Rubio, Chavez Jr., Lemieux, Geale and Murray were all knocking about the higher ends of the rankings. People don't hate the era, they just know it's absolute dog****.
His MW run IMO still is better than GGGs his win against Tito there is better than any win that GGG had, Hopkins was the underdog in that fight and upset Tito. He also had wins outside of MW which put him over GGG and make him an ATG Tarver Pascal Pavlik and Winky.
