Any fighter who didn't quit, knowing that half their face is caved in and another punch could blind them for life, would be quite rightly judged as a world class idiot.

Personally, I've not heard of an injury to the extent that BJS suffered. It was a quadripod facture that involved his cheek and orbital bone, essentially half his face had caved in.

I've never heard of the likes of Foreman, Frazier, Holyfield, Tyson et al ever suffering an injury of this magnitude. Therefore, it's a bit daft to say that those fighters also wouldn't have quit under the same circumstances.

I don't like BJS one bit, he's an arsehole of a man. But he was 100% right to not come out for round 9.

Saunders isn’t getting ridiculed by the boxing community because he quit in the corner. He’s getting ridiculed for his words, and then quitting in the corner.

But, even if you killed me and my buddies had a funeral for me I'd continue to fight on. If my corner tried to throw in the towel after that, I'd fight my own team just to get another few cracks at my opponent.
