He was avoided. Mayweather never mentioned his name. That is not a coincidence. Floyd also fought Andre Berto in a total waste of a fight when he could of chased history with Triple G. Mayweather fought Berto in September of 2015 and Triple G fought Lemieux a month later in October. Totally a fight that could of been made. Would of been huge. Cotto ducked him. Martínez avoided him - didn’t take the risk. Quillian did fold eventually but he wanted no part either. He was clearly avoided. Everyone knew he would hang an L on them and outside of Mayweather who could sell a fight no one would make huge bank.
Id be open to hearing arguments for him being one, but right now Id say HOF yes, ATG no. His resume is just too thin for me.
What are the 10 middleweights you (anyone) have over a prime G, head to head? And who are the 10 you have ahead of him legacy wise?
When he stepped up to world level people went the distance with him. Stopping Macklin or Rubio years after both were obliterated by others means what?
Why does pbf who was shot and already the best of the era who just schooled pac need to move up against ggg who never dared to be great? You want pbf to jump through hoops when he was already more than proven but don't ask the same of ggg. Why don't you ask ggg why he ran off like a dog when ward's name was mentioned at 168 pounds? Pbf had already moved through 5 weights was shot but in your mind he must move up again for a guy who's best win at that time was Murray who never moved up.
Nah......GGG didn't beat Canelo twice. He beat Canelo in the first fight I agree but not in the second one. It was a very close fight that could have gone either way or at least it should have been a draw. Never mind! Most people in this thread said that GGG can be just a HOFer but he's not an ATG and I agree with that. You can't change my mind.
The meaning of ATG is so warped at this point. I guess in terms of accomplishments no but H2H he'd give most MWs serious issues. He was definitely on the level of one
Pimp C, You know mate I still remember what GGG vowed when he was at his prime " I'll fight anyone from 154 to 168." Have you seen him doing that?
Nope! Ward called him out at 168 he ducked him. Charlo been trying to fight him but no answer. Ggg needs to rematch chenko next or retire.
Rubio went 9 rounds with Pavlik, lost a close 12 decision to Chavez jr, knocked out Lemieux, got destroyed in two by GGG, after that went to 168lbs and went the distance with Anthony Dirrell. Macklin beat the WBA super Champ Sturm then got robbed, then he gave Martinez a hell of a fight, had Martinez down in round seven was later stopped in round 11. He rebounded got a win then got a shot at GGG, got dominated and stopped in 3 and recieved 2 broken ribs. The Macklin vs Martinez fight was before Martinez fought Chavez jr, one of Martinez best performances. So you can't claim Martinez was shot. The pattern is GGG obliterates those that other Champions struggle with.
Sorry you’re so triggered. It was a big fight with a dominant middleweight. That’s all. He could of gotten a catch weight like he did Canelo. Floyd didn’t want that smoke. That’s all. Would of been much better than Berto.
