Funnily enough I had been watching his content as the depth of discussion he goes into on the subject is quite interesting, didn't know he had made this video until yesterday.
Going along with what @sasto mentioned, boxers fought each other more frequently in the past. SRR fought LaMotta six times and Fullmer four times. However besides that I think boxing kind of hit a peak with skills, technology, and competition around the 90s. Since then it's been a bit of a decline. Obviously technology, nutrition, strength and conditioning are all better, but fighters fight less often against other top opponents and their skillsets look down to me as a whole. The top dogs could compete in any era, but their divisions appear weak. Most guys don't seem to know how to fight on the inside, how to cut off the corner. The guys who fight on the outside a few and far between. We get a lot of dumb power punchers who ended getting blasted by the elite fighters. It's a very general take, but that's how I see it.
Well, Canelo is the most popular, 70,000 you know. So the most popular fighter is losing on the polls when it comes to these fights. That should tell you something. No shame in losing to GGG. As you can see, you can lose to GGG and still go on to greatness.
@m.s. If we walked around that stadium last weekend polling people randomly on who won both Canelo GGG fights the vast majority would say Canelo won both.

Posters aren't exactly unbiased on this website.
Yeah but the ringside media had it massively for GGG in both fights, those that are paid to report the news accurately, and not be drunk on the job.
I'll try and meet you halfway. I was referring to fan polls, not ringside observers. I haven't looked into what media or other boxers have scored the fights. I personally have them 1 and 1, but both fights were close and could have gone either way in my book. That said, I would maybe trust the scores of boxers more, but even there a lot of guys have agendas based on jealousy, friendships, and angling to get a fight. With media, most of those guys never stepped into a ring and score based on who their networks want to prop up. A lot of people also score off of style preferences based on pressure or outside fighting. So no, I don't really trust most people's scores. I've laced them up and I score based off the 4 criteria round by round. I give clean hard punches the most weight. Both guys were pretty effective the nights they fought so I'm not broken up because both guys have a claim to victory.
