What were your scorecards for the Canelo/Saunders fight?

Mine were 78-77 in favour of Saunders (3 to 2 with, 3 even). I gave Saunders Rounds:1,5 & 6, Canelo 2 & 8, and 3,4 & 7 even. If not for the eye injury, Saunders would have a real chance of pulling off the upset imo - as he was boxing very well throughout the fight.

I already know we are going to all argue it out here in the thread, but if you add a poll it might be interesting to see what the consensus on the scores were. Probably doesn't have enough options for all the possibilities, but at least who had it ahead or draw.

4-4. All less action rounds cannot be given to Canelo by default all the time

Yeah that sounds about right. The judges (& the audience) are in awe of the sound of Canelo's punches & forget how to score a fight, just because he got in 1 or 2 eye-catching (or dramatic sound effect) punches, despite being out-worked for most of the round.

Got Saunders ahead by a round, but you can see the general direction of where the fight is going. Saunder's body language says it all.

BJS was getting stopped regardless of that broken orbital bone or not.

(You can argue that Canelo is ahead by a round and I wouldn't go against it, its a close fight.. at least in scoring)

The only reason why I feel bjs was not going to win the fight because he lacked the power to hurt him and regardless of him out boxing and winning most of the rounds, he was never going to get a decision in the US

Same, 4-4 with 3 very close rounds that I think I split 2-1 Saunders. So if I did even rounds I would have been 88-87 Canelo.

Here is my actual card which only has 2 close rounds but people always complain I mark too many rounds close. I promise you I was thinking at least one more round was close:

    1. Canelo 10-9, close
    2. Canelo 10-9
    3. Canelo 10-9
    4. Saunders 10-9, close
    5. Saunders 10-9
    6. Saunders 10-9
    7. Saunders 10-9
    8. Canelo 10-9

According to Compubox, Canelo outlanded Saunders in Rounds 1-4, so this wasn't a case of Canelo being outlanded but just landing one or two eye catching shots and winning the round. If you just count landed punches and give the round to who lands more punches in a round, which is what Canelo antagonists have argued in many of Canelo's fights, then Canelo would have won 5 rounds here. I should also point out that according to Compubox, Billy didn't land any power punches in round 1, only 5 jabs, while Canelo landed 2 jabs and 5 power punches. In round 2, it said Canelo didn't land a single jab but landed 11 power punches. And in rounds 3 and 4, it had Canelo out-jabbing Billy in those rounds and outlanding him by a higher margin in total punches than in rounds 1 and 2, landing 4 more punches than Billy in round 3, and landing 10 more punches than Billy in round 4.
