How many points did you give Saunders for making Canelo miss wildly? You know, how you gave Canelo points for making Golovkin miss in their first fight?
I said easy to score but was a good competitive fight while it lasted, for as much gloating as I’ve been doing much props to Saunders who had his moments. I have to commend him a lot of Canelo opponents shell up at the first sign of fire, so Billy coming to fight deserves respect regardless of scoring or ending. its crazy because the shot that stopped billy joe is the same shot that Canelo landed on Lara in round maybe 4/5, that caused him to become a track star the rest of the fight.
I had it 4-4, with 2 of the rounds 1/7 being very close but I gave to Saunders on slightly better work, but I found it hard to have too much of an issue with the 6/2 card as that's what mine would have been if i'd swung it to Alvarez. I HATE giving even rounds and try to avoid it as much as possible.
1 Saunders 2 Canelo 3 Canelo 4 Saunders (Judges will score for Canelo) 5 Saunders 6 Saunders 7 Saunders 8 Canelo My actual from the round by round, 77-75 for Saunders when he fell apart. As you can see, I thought 4 could've went to Canelo so I can reason it could've been an even fight. In no way was Canelo as dominant as the official cards suggest though (aside from round 8), he beat him up
I have seen anybody mention it yet, somebody much have but IFL have taken down Mark Tibbs' post fight interview (I believe other channels have to). It's been "replaced" with Benny D saying he was in the corner and BJS didn't want the fight stopped, he was shaking his head to say "dont stop the fight". All rather embarrassing, IFL should really be finished now, they started this when they turned off comments on Shannon Courtenays interview, they have now removed Mark Tibbs because he has obviously upset Saunders with his comments. IFL isn't a boxing channel, it's a PR channel, I won't be going back there now, zero integrity in my opinion.
I had BJS up, but the rounds were very close and I don't begrudge anyone having Canelo up. The fight was not heading towards a clear win either side, it was heading towards a debatable decision, as you'd expect two counter punchers to arrive at. However, its academic. BJS went for a shot, Canelo slipped it, countered and scored the ko. Job done.
I think it’s clear that instead of scoring the fight you were cheering for Saunders who you wanted to win. I don’t think you understand how fights are scored because Canelo won at least 5-6 of the completed rounds and Saunders only won 2 narrowly which essentially Canelo allowed him to in order to further deplete Saunders Tank before he put it on him again in round 8.
It was heading for a clear Canelo win furthermore it was clear the fight was not going the distance. This was apparent before the fight as predicted but more so in round 1 as Canelo was able to close the gap and land terrific left hooks to Saunders body. This early investment to Saunders body would pay dividends in the 3 quarter.
