Boxer Fighting in MMA | Claressa Shields vs. Brittney Elkin is Going to Suck

Shields is P4P in the top 3 best female boxers in the world right now he does have a point about the competition in female boxing being lower than Male boxing. Elkan is a low-level Women's MMA fighter with very limited striking but a decent ground game and a lot of experience. We have no idea how this fight will play our because we've never seen Shields grapple live before. I think this is a good level for her debut but the chance of Shields losing is really high. A loss in MMA means a lot less than it does in Boxing. Switching sports from Boxing to MMA is a very hard thing to do I honestly have no clue how this fight will go so I'm interested in watching it. I think one of the only reasons I'm giving Shields such a chance of winning is because Elkans striking vulnerabilities of backing up on a straight line and throwing leg kicks with little set up makes her tailor made for Shields on the feet. The only question is will Shields be able to finish her if this fight goes past round 1 I have a really hard time seeing Shields win. I think Elkan has a high chance of grinding her down in the clinch or on the ground to get a decision win or submission after Shields TDD gets sloppy.

 

Shields is the worst possible female boxer to try to cross over to mma. She seemingly has no power, either.

At least Holly Holm tried kickboxing before she ventured into mma.

Shields will have a rude awakening early on in her mma career and will never get to the level to fight Amanda Nunes. This is just an easy opportunity for mma fanboys to say ''look, boxers suck at fighting''. When realistically there's more sucky mma fighters at the top level than boxers in their competitive sports.

Shields may lose to Elkin by submission and she'll never fight in mma again. Shields has a very brash, unsavoury personality and has an exaggerated opinion of herself... she thinks she's some unbeatable boxer/fighter.

 

I don't see how she can compete in mma with no power, telegraphed kicks, no takedown defence, no bjj ability, no judo ability, no kickboxing ability,...etc... It just doesn't bold well. Who knows... I'm sure they'll feed her part time fighters with losing records to gain some credibility.

 

I really hope Shields goes in there with her inflated ego and gets smashed.
However, if she is taking this thing seriously then I wish her the best.

But, I don´t think she knows what she is getting into.

 

Few women in MMA have actual power, besides leg kicks.

Rose Namajunas is another one. Weili Zhang has heavy hands but isn´t the puncher she is made out to be. Sort of like Canelo was when he won his title from Hatton.

Jessica Andrade can ****ing crack. As can Cyborg, but she is clearly not natural.
