Everybody in this world knows what "I cant see" means in a boxing ring. And in other worlds they know it too. Now, you can tell the story as you want to, maybe anyone without freaking idea about boxing will buy it. EDIT: And dont get me wrong, I've nothing against quitting. When it's the right choice, not quitting is a mistake. If the right choice is to quit, then it must be done, only an idiot would not do it.
This whole, knackers in a wheelbarrow, chest beating stuff over, "Quitting", is actually pretty concerning. Are there really people out there who want to see another Johnny Owen ? The trainers both handled this in stupid fashion. Tibbs shouldn't have said, 'He wasn't giving me the reaction I wanted'. If you saw his face was caved in, you should have made the decision and then told the reporters afterwards that you were never letting him fight on after seeing the massive structural damage. Don't even mention what BJS did or didn't do. As for you, Davison, don't go fabricating what happened to damage control Tibbs' comments where he basically threw BJS under the bus. Just makes it worse. Better off focusing on the injury and explain that the corner was not going to let it continue. Also, Michelle Phelps actively tried to get Tibbs to say BJS quit in an interview, despite being a 'friend' of Billy, what an absolute skank-snake. The scary thing is, though, I'm not sure that corner even knew how bad the damage was. They shouldn't have even been leaving it to BJS to make any kind of decision. Get a doctor to check his malformed face and call it off.
People for the most part understand. It's just fans rubbing it in because most posters were rooting for Saunders. Saunders talked a lot of crap saying he would die in the ring just to beat Canelo and talked crap about other fighters for quiting with injuries like Dubois. Now we get threads like this where fans are trying to say Saunders wanted to continue which we all know isn't true. Overall it was the smart thing to do because even if Saunders managed a victory, losing your eye sight is forever. He is still not out of the woods so who knows if he will get another chance to box.

A bunch of immediate interviews with Tibbs have been taken down by the likes of IFL. I remember one of them where Tibbs says that he (Tibbs) wanted to see how the next round went, but BJS said he couldn’t see. What we’re seeing now is damage control.
