Deontay Wilder Wins Arbitration—Tyson Fury Must Fight Him By 9/15!!!

I think Fury has completely messed everyone around here. He's probably given Hearn assurances that he'd pay Wilder step aside and now when push comes to shove he's adamant he wants to fight Wilder, what a messer. He could have fought Wilder anytime in the last year

Look, Hearn could out today and say "it's still happening, we are dealing with Wilder now and sorting it all out"

And it still goes ahead, very possible, Hearn might even go to court to make sure it happens, we just don't know yet.

 

He waited silently in the shadows all this time and only emerged when the fight is close to being a done deal.

He wants to fight the rubber match in the court , not in the ring. This man is a weasel. Fury should throw the belt in the dustbin.

 

Fury should just beat Wilder up on his own undercard for the Joshua fight. Decent warm up.

No idea but that’s what they should do. None of us are privy to the financials so it’s a bit of a waste of time speculating. Maybe they are trying to negotiate exactly that.

 

Anything can happen now

It might all still go ahead, may only be one fight instead of two, then the WBO might have issues..


My gut feeling is something will happen to allow this to go ahead.

 

Seems to have better footwork than Wilder.

 

2 options to play hard ball.

1 Fury sues Wilder for defamation for the same value as any step aside agreed. Which he has a legitimate case, including damaged reputation.

2. Fury and AJ agree to go ahead with the fight in Saudi and just never fight in the US again and both play hardball. If Wilder doesnt step aside neither of us will ever fight you again. They are Wilders only payday. Confirm they are happy to not have US TV as it will only be a $10m hit. And proceed.

 

I hope so. I was devastated when I heard the fight was called off.

So as much as I want to rage or be salty, it's probably better to laugh and look forward to 2 huge heavyweight fights this year.

 

The case being in arbitration has been mentioned multiple times for many months now. We have all known about the rematch clause before they even had the second fight and we knew he exercised it. Even Fury in an interview couldn't have been more than two months ago mentioned how he "might have to fight Wilder." Warren has mentioned it recently. Everybody who reads boxing articles has known about it.

 

I personally find it funny, not because we might not see the fight but because Hearn in my opinion has dumped all over British boxing fans over the past few years and gets away with it because of idiotic casuals who swallow his every word.


But like I said, I see something like the WBC letting Wilder Vs Whyte fight for the vacant title.

Then either making the WBC franchise belt available or even making a new belt for Fury Vs AJ, thy make belts for Canelo, they do crazy crap like this a lot.

 

This is typical of the US judicial system to add in facts AFTER the event. ALL dates for invoking the rematch clause and allowing for a 90 day delay should Wilder require surgery all passed last year (2020) . Unless there was a specific caveat in the Contract detailing that these dates could be extended in the event of a Global Pandemic then by law that contract is null and void the moment the dates passed. Wilder could have invoked the rematch before the date anyway and then would have had a case based on the fact that the actual fight couldnt happen BUT this is not what happened, He didnt invoke anything meaning that arbitrarily Wilder is the party that broke the contract. (or rather failed to meet his obligations). BTW yes I am a contract lawyer by profession

 

Exactly, this is why I find it somewhat amusing.

Some people just believe anything that comes out of Hearns mouth, we had all this when he tried to make Wilder Vs AJ.

Fury managed to make TWO fights with Wilder but Hearn couldn't make ONE with AJ.

Anyway, It looks like to me they all believed the amounts of money involved would somehow override Wilders claim and the fight would go ahead regardless,

It still might, they might satisfy Wilder and Finkle, they could fit for the franchise belt instead of the normal WBC title, it could all be another little blip or it could cause serious problems.

We will find out soon but this isn't a surprise really.
