Why is Canelo still not a household name? He`s like the Mayweather/Pacquiao of the current era.

you ask why one guy is not as famous as another. Look no further than the early career of these guys. In their early years these guys fought every month or every other month. mayweather, tyson, pacquiao, leonard.

want to be famous? want to be a houshold name? Do it the old fashion way. fight every month for three years.

Canelo's mom is still clearly mostly European. Canelo is pretty white. Look at his brothers, they look like Spanish men. The myth that really needs to stop is that ginger = Irish.

 

tons of gingers in spain, especially in the northern part of the country. The soccer player Xavi Alonso is a good example of that, looks like he could be related to canelos family.

Gingers are looked down apon in that neck of the woods for some reason. apparently 80% of children in foster homes in england are of ginger complexion. Sad

There is no "Mexican" race. Mexicans can be anything from full blooded European to full blooded indigenous.

There are also black Mexicans and Asian Mexicans.

Many to most people are some mixture of these elements.

I'm not British but it sounds in Britain, not so much.

I would think he's gaining notoriety there as he's now destroyed more Brits than anyone since Andrew Jackson.

Part of the issue I think is that until recently, he didn't speak much English, at least on camera.

He seems increasingly confident in English now.

All it would take is for Canelo to appear on a few British talk shows, commercial spots or something like that.

I don't think he will do it though. He doesn't need to. He's getting very rich in the Americas.
