The newspaper clippings were a great find, kudos for uncovering this incident. I am somewhat confused in that, how does the mass (size) of Primo's gloves equal that of Baer's 6oz. gloves. They mention padding over the knuckles, irrespective of the weight of gloves. So, actually the gloves can be 16 oz. This would include an indeterminate amount of gauze and tape?

If this is actually how the gloves were made, the handicap isn't as bad at 16oz gloves.
    However, still an unfair handicap.
    Good find!

Under that third clipping it says, "Although much larger than Baer's, 'tis interesting to know that they didn't weigh an ounce more than the playboy's. They scale six ounces."

I admit it would have been nice to find a more authoritative source than a photoshoot with "pretty Irene Linquist."

Henry Armstrong, after breaking his right hand and severely bruising the other in his fight with Davey Day, fought his next fight with Ernie Roderick in London, with extra gauze and wide tape, two or three over the legal limit. His manager Eddie Mead demanded it, or Henry won't fight. It made his hands, like clubs. The NYSAC permitted Hank to fight under these conditions, and agreed upon with opponents manager.

They put those 90 oz gloves on him to save them from his wrath.
