Only skills and talent should be noted, personality is of non importance. Those actions in their personal lives have consequences that have nothing to do with boxing.
Williams - Satterfield. Williams was a 20 year old prospect who'd been fighting professionally for a year with no amateur career whatsoever, and took the bout on a 2 day notice. He'd also never fought anyone near the level of Satterfield and his manager only took the bout because he owed a favor to the promoter and acknowledged it was a huge gamble. It's funny because the usual suspects who trot this out dismiss Williams win over Terrell on the basis that Ernie was "green" despite Terrell having MUCH more experience, having fought pro for FIVE years at this point, and not having lost in 2 years which itself was an close SD loss to a former rated contender (don't know if he was rated at the time) in Bethea. Liston - Machen. Liston dominated the bout, out-boxed Machen, rendered him useless and showed a different facet to his game many thought he was incapable of. I don't know how this can be seen as anything BUT positive for Liston. Liston-Marshall Another bout used to fulfil an agenda. Liston had but SEVEN pro bouts when he faced Marshall, a future rated contender had his jaw broken early (while allegedly laughing at Marshall, a known goof in the ring) and still fought valiantly to an SD. Liston - Martin. Similar to Liston - Marshall, in that it's used to fulfil an agenda. Liston was very likely in his 40s, completely shot, a heroine addict, and according to Foreman sick with the flu, and was ready to be taken. This bout and the aforementioned Liston-Marshall bout are the epitome of clutching at straws from certain detractors. Louis-Marciano. I've actually seen people using this as an argument as to why Marciano would always beat Louis which is laughable and ignorant at best and disingenuous at worst. Louis was a coked-up washed up shell of himself and still gave Marciano trouble (by his own admission) at times with the remnants of his jab. I remember that idiot and notorious Louis detractor Balder saying Louis was "only" 37, and this was an indication of what would've happened in their prime. Liston-Westphal: A certain poster once used this bout and Liston's numerous "problems" with Westphal as bulletproof evidence that Marciano would KO him.

Ward is often criticized for what was basically a soul taking of Kovalev in the second fight and an enormous showing of heart and strategy to pull out the first fight.
Ward lost the first fight & should have been DQ'd in the rematch. It looked like he was trying to neuter Kov lol. Even with close up video some still say Ward didnt hit him low but on the belt line LOL I guess their testes are in line with their belt line still lol
I think that Jeffries gets a lot of stick, for some fights where he was a very inexperienced fighter, taking on some of the best contenders in the world.
I’ve had you on ignore for I don’t even know how long. Whatever you responded to me, however many times, I never read it.
All critisism of fighters I like is unjustified, and all critisism of fighters I dislike is justified.
