Yeah this would’ve been fun. Sadly RIP to both warriors, gone too young and too soon. Cooper and his head on your chest (when motivated) poor mans Mike Tyson plus Joe Frazier Hybrid style made for some great scraps. Stewart more of a polished right hand bomber who would set that right hand up off his jab, these two would mesh well! I see the possibility of two outcomes. 1. Stewart bombs Cooper with enough big right hands to shell him up a bit and cruises to a workman like decision. Or 2. Cooper drags Alex into the trenches busts him up (Stewart was very prone to cut) and lands enough big bombs to hurt Alex and tear his tender face to bloody ribbons. Which results in a mercy stoppage due to facial damage. Another outcome I could possibly see would be Cooper blitzing Stewart early and maybe getting a cold slow starting Stewart out of there early, but I don’t think this is very likely. I’m leaning towards Alex by Decision.
At his best, Cooper was better and would win. The punching power has been vastly overstated lately. In my opinion, his record is more than a little bit misleading in that regard.
Who would you say Cooper beat that was Similar to Stewart?? Alex Froze against Tyson but took bombs pretty well from Holyfield twice without going down (stopped on a cut) Moorer dropped him multiple times but again he was ready to continue but stopped on a cut. Foreman blasted him for 10 rounds and he took it. Cooper is the more explosive fighter for sure. He was also blown out and beaten by a lot of fighters lesser than Alex Stewart as well. Who’s his best win? And this is coming from someone who absolutely loves Bert Cooper.
Yeah it’s too bad both of these guys as well as others of their generation died so young. I agree with all the possible outcomes you suggested as they’re all plausible. Stewart as you say was cut prone while Cooper blew hot and cold. Either way I think it would have been a nice slug fest for however long it lasted
I think Stewart wins this in a tough fight Both guys got hit too much had power and were tough. Stewart was a natural HW while Cooper really wasn't. Both gave Holyfield tough fights. Stewart was impressive in warring with Foreman and turning George's face into ground round. i think Stewart survives Cooper's early attack and stops him in the mid rounds.
Good fight, RIP to both men. I see it similar to Moorer v Cooper actually. Both men hurt early and both getting dropped. Stewart pulls it out after a absolute war. Stewart ko 6.
The Bert Cooper who broke Mercer's jaw was the best i ever saw him fight. He was 100% Philly Warrior that day. He wasnt going anywhere. Stewart had a big heart, could box a little. He had a ton of KOs but I'm not sure how powerful he actually was. Alex would have to hurt Cooper to get his respect. It would be interesting. Toss up
