Pretty old school guy, you guys think he would be competitive today or has boxing evolved too much for him?

His prime weight being 175-180, he fought much lighter, but he would move up to MW (with day before weigh ins).
Anyone going to a very different & era & rule set would be less effective-including modern day greats traveling back in time.

Physically he would remind us of Dwight Muhammed Quai.
However with counter-punching to go with swarming-& he looked very good on film.

I see no reason why Langford could not be at least as successful as the Human Buzzsaw, racking up belts in different divisions!

Braxton was no Langford. Hitting or skillwise. Like comparing Chris Bird to Ali.

he can be champ easily in whatever division he wants to compete in and probably retires undefeated!

Canelo has a lot of similarities and he's doing quite well.

Moving any fighter ovr 100 years from when they fought is a big ask. He'd need to adapt a lot to the differences in rules and conditions

He'd turn pro at 130lbs. Assuming the evolution of his technique was similar he'd be as extraordinary a puncher below middleweight as ever lived. Even if he didn't adapt he'd remain a devastating and dangerous contender and champion, based solely on punching power, which, at 147lbs say, would be every bit as extraordinary as Wilder's at heavyweight.

Sam would be very succesful in today's boxing world. A multi-weight champion for sure. he had skills galore and much of his power would be retained as he movd up in poundage.

Gervonta Davis leveller. . Maybe a bit better. Certainly a champ at the lower weights but moving up beyond 147 would result in splattering style knockout losses

fighting as a squat S-MW cum L-HW, he'd do just fine.

He would be less active, which would result in less losses but weaker resume as well. He'd be a terror for anyone his size or smaller and he could reach greatness at higher weights (LHW and CW) but he wouldn't be as consistent against bigger guys.

Overall, he's GOAT candidate so he'd definitely fare well.

Skill wise no fighter from that era including overrated Sam Langford could make it today. He would be so bad that even amateur boxers would be vastly more skilled than him. He would be so bad skill wise that the worst female boxer would be more skilled than him. The worst female MMA fighters would have better punching skills than him.

He would be so unskilled that guys like Nate Robinson would be able to beat him.

He wouldn't get sanctioned to fight anybody at 168 or 175 never mind friggin CW.. He'd get obliterated

We've seen freakshow fights happen recently and there were no good for the sport.
Mikey Garcia v Errol Spence.. Brook v GGG.. Khan v Canelo

Langford vs anybody above 160 is an even bigger mismatch than those fights

He fought guys above 210 lbs while being old and past prime, so you're insane if you think that LHW would be too much for him.
Langford himself weighed above 170 lbs in his best fights, are you sure you're talking about the right Langford? He was comfortable above 170 lbs.
