Truly unbelievable that an undisputed unification fight involving a brit for all the belts hasn't been picked up by a british broadcaster.
It`s bad but both fighters are unknown to the average sports fan in the UK and the PPV wouldn`t have done well on this fight.
There's an Australian maths teacher that's more known and popular with UK fight fans than Josh Taylor, it's ridiculous, he's the best British boxer right now.
It’s scheduled for a 0430hrs fight time so it’s not going to be a priority for any broadcaster. The rights fee being asked must be steep for BT/Sky not to be screening the fight. I suspect if Taylor wins it’ll be shown on a linear channel on a delay.
Nail on the head. Top Rank asked for too much money. It’s mental how little hype there is for this fight outside of hardcore boxing fans. Its been poorly promoted for me
Matchroom casuals have ruined the boxing market. TV companies want to cater to them. Hopefully when Fury finishes off AJ, they all follow Eddie out of the sport.
It's on something called Fite TV for £12.99 a stream. Not a feasible channel in my opinion and a disgrace, albeit for the reasons others have stated.
It's matchrooms fault he doesn't have a significant profile in the UK... Wasn't his last fight on bt? They clearly didn't fancy putting this on ppv. The prograis card did fewer than 200k so with timezones this wouldn't do many more either. The pandemic killed any momentum Taylor had plus he's a tit so people don't like him.
This is what happens when you challenge yourself early in your career rather than prancing around building a casual fan base fighting nobodies and washed up names. I know what I’d rather see. stivk I’m him with Benn for a highlight reel KO in front of the masses and he’ll be where he deserves to be profile was.
If he had gone with Matchroom or Queensberry he would have a half decent profile, he chose to go with Cyclone and now Top Rank. That's why.
