There are loads of good fights for him at 147, for me he needs to get there ASAP, no point ****ing around now. Stylistically Taylor-Spence would be my favourite, two of the best body punchers in the world. Personally I don’t think Taylor beats either Crawford or Spence but just want to see it tbh.
Good fight and a great performance from Taylor, the knockdowns were the difference and they allowed him to coast the final couple of rounds. It has to be ranked up there as one of the biggest win's abroad by a British boxer Inside the ropes Taylor has proved himself to be P4P the best in the UK and now he must be regarded as one of the best in the sport. It's his conduct outside of the ropes though why his talent is not being showcased on a bigger platform in the UK and why the big name sponsors will not be queuing up to sign him. At 10 stone he will be very difficult to beat, but at Welterweight, I just do not see his style being as effective. I'd favor him to beat Lopez at this stage, but I can't see him hurting the big name welterweights with the shots he hurt Ramirez with tonight. Great win for Taylor and a historical night for Scottish and British boxing. Initially I thought Taylor would win, but I actually bet on Ramirez via knockout due to his antics outside of the ring. Hopefully he drops the Chisora act for future fights because inside the ropes he's a real talent that can actually mix it at the top level.
Yeah 100%. He’s unified now, no point in waiting at 140! Give him Khan or Brook! Get that profile a boost. Alternatively Avenasyan is a solid name for him domestically or if he wants to jump straight in to world level then Mikey Garcia (or what’s left of him) or Danny Garcia?
He beats both Garcias IMO. With Josh I think his power would carry to 147. When you have that combination of physical strength, boxing finesse and pure spite sky’s the limit. But Crawford and Spence are truly special fighters who just adapt to any fighter it seems, and after those scorecards it would be hard to see Taylor get a win over either in America.
He carried Jose for the last 4 rounds there imo.taylors arm defence was a thing of beauty.didnt get out of 3rd gear.
Lets be honest he doesn't do a "Chisora act" though does he. Good old Del Boy is a mediocre, juiced up, degenerate woman beater with previous for spitting in his opponents faces, throwing tables and threatening to shoot lads. Taylor is one of the great British champions who seems incapable of being in a boring fight. Would love to see him stick around at 140 for Lopez and Davis to shift up rather than moving to welterweight straight away. He deserves that Edinburgh Castle fight.
I disagree, Taylor's antics pre-fight were intentional and it's a deliberate act to intimidate and get inside the other fighters head. Watch the post-fight interviews, it's almost like he's had a personality transplant. He reminds me somewhat of John Terry. I also have no issue with the mind-games but the post-weigh in tactic of trying to intimidate Ramirez when he had his wife and child close by, was there really any need for that, it's just a cheap shot by a deeply insecure bully. Hopkins pulled similar tactics on Trinidad and it worked, but when he played the " White-boy" game with Calzaghe it didn't and he ultimately choked on fight night. Mike Tyson was similar in that respect also and I think Taylor will eventually be exposed in a similar fashion.
Again, both Hopkins and Tyson were violent criminals who spent years inside. Taylor has done nothing to warrant those comparisons. We just watched a British fighter become undisputed in 18 fights and you are scrabbling around for reasons to try to denigrate him. Sad.
In case anyone is interested we now have all 4 belts around the waist of 1 man. But Josh should now drop them and move up there are some massive paydays at 147 in America. He dosnt need the UK networks and if I were him I would tell them all to jog on.
Again, that is your opinion, one which you're entitled to based on your own level of awareness and knowledge. Hopkins and Tyson are just extremes of the same sociopathic spectrum. You're a fan of Taylor both the man and the fighter and I get that, for reasons I shared I'm not so I would suggest we just agree to disagree. Enjoy your day.
