Bud's last PPV garnered a whopping 150,000 buys. For some perspective, Jake Paul's recent PPV had 1,300,000 buys, roughly 9 times that of Crawford's. I hate to break it to you, if Bud retired today, he'd be forgotten by tomorrow. The only people who actually want to watch him fight are from Omaha, and even they're probably getting tired of him by now. The only thing that awaits the Duckmeister in Chief if he keeps on this path is obscurity, quite frankly, he's kind of already there. He's an afterthought. Meanwhile Spence is taking on a genuine challenge every time he steps in the ring.
Taylor's the type of guy you wouldn't recognise if he was standing next to you in a diner, he has zero charisma and zero PPV potential.
Nice try at reframing. But in some ways I agree. He may well always be obscure to casual fans of the sport - the type who buy PPV or pay for charity dinners where celebrities also attend. I'll bow to your expertise on zero charisma. He'll never be obscure to real boxing fans because of what he achieved last night
I think he should stay at 140 for a while. He supposedly has no problem making the weight at 140. This speaks to his frame size. Whichever division he decides to campaign at, he should stay away from fighting in Vegas.
Someone else has said this about him making 140 but I'm not too sure. He's just turned 30 and it's better to pre-judge weight-making issues finally impacting performance than wait for that to materialise. He must want to become a two-weight world champ and having unified 140 what more is there to prove at LWW? I'd like his next fight at 147. He should call out Broner
I don’t see a compelling need for him to move up to Welterweight yet to face Crawford. He can have a big domestic fight in Scotland at a stadium against his mandatory then face potentially the likes of Teofimo Lopez, Tank and Haney at 140 pounds which will all be mega fights. Crawford will age even more which might augment Taylor’s chances but not convinced he beats Bud ever and certainly not Spence. No need to move up unless he is struggling at the weight.
nah, that's not true. If crawford smashes taylor's face easily and puts him to sleep on the canvas people, you included, will continue saying that crawford has fought noone, and that taylor does not belong to ww, or that he only had 18 fights, or whatever. Postol was the big deal until crawford's fight. Or gamboa. Or indonog. Or or or or or... this one was overrated, this one was not what people said, this one was this, this one was that. I'm not saying that they are all ATGs, but crawford has beaten a good amount of top notch fighters. And no problem, he will never get the credit because it seems too easy to do when he does it. That's called talent. No problem with that. That's what always happens with extremely talented fighters. You see velazquez painting a picture, and you think that it's not so difficult. Or mozart composing a sonata. Or mayweather schooling canelo. You see them doing that (not the result, but the fact of doing that) and it would seem incredibly easy to do because they can do it effortless. They are so exceptional that it seems so easy that we dont give them the credit. As I said, I've seen that so many times that I've accepted that, I have no problem with that the same way I dont have any problem with the rain, the sea, the sun or the mountains.
Well it is true for me - IF Bud schools Taylor, he will get every bit of credit from me 100%. Taylor is legit elite, and IMO that's what Crawford is missing on his resume. Taylor is a big 140lbr, so IMO the 'small guy moving up' don't carry any weight there.
I don't understand this obsession with PPV numbers and Crawford's record, he fights who Bob Arum puts in front of him, and these scared bitches at PBC don't want any part of him.....why is Crawford to blame for this? That doesn't change his skill level, the guy can beat anybody at 147, including Spence...and Taylor will look silly against him before getting stopped.
At some point making 140 will seriously impact his performance. Why wait for that to happen and maybe take a loss to a fighter he should beat?
