Eye test reveals that, he's more style than substance and his punching power diminishes as the rounds go on due to him gassing out, he's also fairly hittable against lower opposition.

Where does he stand as SMW? Imo Iran Barkley would smoke him like a salmon.

Hard to say after he’s fought 3 low level fighters in a row. I don’t get what his purpose even is in the sport anymore.

It seems that he's looking for that career high payday vs Canelo and then he'll go on to fight low level comp for the rest of his career having lost only to the best.

I'd be more excited about this fight if I hadn't just seen what Canelo did to BJS.

Plant has certain advantages over BJS in size and dedication to training, but also has disadvantages so you have to assume a wide decision or late stoppage is coming.

Plant lacks power, and that's what you need to beat Canelo's current form. He's not the guy who struggled with Lara anymore.

    Easy pickings for Canelo

I want this fight over and done with so we can see the Beterbiev fight next year.

    Agreed.

GGG 1 (regardless of all the surrounding crap) was a clear 'transition' fight for Canelo IMO - he gained a huge amount of confidence having taken some of GGGs best shots, and has obviously altered his style following that fight.

I like Plant even doe he don’t know Robert Plant like that bru:band:

He’s a slick fighter, strong and has great movement. The bigger issues is after all the years I’ve followed him, and made Led Zeppelin jokes, he had yet to face a real top quality guy.

I think he is still too “green” to have a decent chance with the elite like Canelo but will be a fun fight.

That's what I thought about Canelo's fight with BJS, that Saunders was going to have to hurt Canelo to keep him wary at some point but Billy couldn't bust a grape. I can't see Plant hurting Canelo either at this point so while he may outslick Canelo for a time he'll get caught and stopped. I'd say Canelo will be a huge favorite 5-1?

He clearly has genuine talent and skill, and looks great when he puts combinations together. I like the way he can change levels with them and double, occasionally even triple up with the same hand. For the most part I really enjoyed his clinics against Uzcategui (a couple of shaky late rounds aside) and Feigenbutz.

Problem is, those guys were tailor-made for someone like Plant and he was always going to shine against them. Though they were game and strong, he was always in control of the distance and looked like he could hit them with whatever shot he wanted, whenever he wanted. Even though Truax is no great shakes himself and Plant still won comfortably, that fight showed that Plant won't be as effective against someone with a bit more nous and intelligence coming in. He couldn't take the same kind of liberties in that fight as he did against Uzcategui and Feigenbutz, and he got caught a little bit more too.

I think he'll cause Canelo some problems, particularly early on, if / when that fight happens but my gut feeling with Plant is that he'll fall a little short and not quite have that cutting edge at the very highest level.

6/10 or 7/10 type fighter. Decent fighter is his ceiling.

Both Clenelo and Benevidez impregnate him.
