Lewis was better than wladimir, but yeah sanders has a puncher's chance. I still strongly favor the lion over corrie

He probably would do. It looks like he'll be another east European fighter like GGG for me who misses the boat a bit in the end, by being too old by the time his biggest fights come around.

It looks like it's Joshua's next fight.

I cannot see that this bout will render any useful measure for how a Lewis/Usyk match-up would go.

Well, if Joshua smacks him silly, I'd say Lewis could do the same.

OK. So what most suspect would happen anyway... ...and if Joshua is tested? What then?

It depends how Usyk fights. If he uses tactics that look like they might also give Lewis problems, then I guess it is fair to say as much.
If he tests Joshua or beats him in a manner that uses tactics that would likely get him nowhere against Lewis, then it's fair to say as much.

I haven't made up my mind on Usyk yet, against top heavyweights.
It's certainly not out of the question that he could give Lewis trouble, or no trouble at all.
He's a clever southpaw, and possibly a better boxer than almost everyone Lewis beat. Possibly.

If Joshua was anywhere near to Lewis' level, I could see your point.

So, even if Usyk gives Joshua a problem, it doesn't really tell me anything, as far as compare/contrast with Usyk/Lewis.

Sure - we'll learn something new about Usyk; primarily, how he handles the size disparity. But that's the start and end of any comparison with Lewis, in my opinion.

Lewis has every advantage you can think of here and Usyk doesn't even have a punchers chance like Rahman and McCall did

We already know that Usky is a great cruiserweight.

His results at heavyweight are still inconclusive.

If he gives Joshua a good fight. then it would become more plausible to suggest that he would be competitive with Lewis.

I wouldn't say that Lewis has every advantage.

Usky is clearly a better technician, and that at least gives him something to work with.

Only if one considers Joshua as operating on somewhere near the same level as did Lewis. He doesn't.

If Usyk gives Joshua a good fight then I suspect it will tell us a lot more about Joshua's flaws than it does about Usyk's heavyweight prowess (other than how he handles the disparity in size).

Neither live long in the ring with Lewis.

Usyk might well be better than Mercer (who almost beat Lewis) and Mavrovic (who lasted the full 12 rounds).
Usyk at age 34 might even be as good as a ring-worn 36/37 year old Holyfield.
I'm not saying he is all that, but it's not an outlandish suggestion.
