Show me a moment when Langford fought that way in fight. We have three almost full fights available of him in his prime, it shouldn't be hard if you're right.

 

There's no picture . Here , you can see a big difference of hand and knuckle position. Ray keeps his hands close.. Sam was picking apples and knocking at the door

You're going to have to explain why they are posing that way? You can see in the footage they walked forward with that exact same stance.

What about it? Fist is high and tucked in to protect the chin. Nothing wrong with it
We also have 24 professional fights recorded in HD so we know AJ doesn't fight with low hands and knuckles turned upside down

 

We have 3 Langford professional fights, so we know Langford didn't fight the way you describe.

 

Everything. From the way they move, to their stance, to the way they punch. Like I said, they do more wrestling than actual boxing. And when they punch, the movement/motion looks like a swimming stroke. I give these early century guys no chance whatsoever against a modern boxer.
But, as some have mentioned, perhaps they only look so bad due to the film they're captured on.

Sure, because you haven't seen Gans fights at all.

 

This isn't an answer. It's a list. What makes the way they move less effective? The way they punch worse? What's wrong with doing as much wrestling as boxing in an era where wrestling was encouraged and was a very effective tactic?

And why do you think it evolved in the 40s? Are there any top fighters before then that you'd give a good chance of winning a title today?
