Why is Josh Taylor not a household name in Britain? After his fantastic achievement and performance

The fight was not shown on any UK tv channel

Not covered on any national news channel before or after

No casual has a clue who he is

    Nothing

It"s right what Eddie Hearn is saying here at 46.20

He should be a superstar but he's unknown

Mediocre opposition. He needs to fight a real fighter like Lopez or Crawford to get the spotlight.

Then you get a laughing stock bum like Amir Khan who hasnt done anything in a decade. And his worthless fight with Billy Dib was all over the national news!

Top opposition back to back actually trollboy

Taylors last 6 opponents have a combined record of 136-1, hes cleared out the best current prime world champions back to back

Unified champ in 18 fights and 6 years
    Ali trophy winner
Never been dropped pro or amateur
P4P ranked 5th by The Ring now
Only one of 6 boxers ever to win all 4 belts in their division, and the first british fighter to do it

Had the judges and ref against him but hes that good they couldnt even rob him

Belts only mean so much, even if you have all the belts. I mean was Crawford a household name in the US when he unified at 140lbs?

If Taylor is to become a big star he needs to fight big name opposition. Doesn't matter how many champions you beat if nobody knows who those champions were outside of hardcore boxing fans.

Much like how Pacquiao only crossed over after he beat De La Hoya despite having beating Barrera and Morales twice as well as JMM.

He isnt a household name in the UK probably cos he is from Scotland!! If he came from Manchester or London u can bet the TV companies would be all over him

For me, not aligning with a big UK promoter with a TV deal is the reason why.

If he had signed with Hearn or Warren he would of had a much bigger profile no doubt.

Poor promotion. Plain and simple. The problem with being signed by a US promoter is that the US promoter has no interest in the UK. Add to this that next to nobody in the states knows who Taylor is and the promoter has done pretty much nothing to change that. They even loaded the odds against Josh with a crap ref and 3 dodgy judges.

I know what you're saying. He should have signed with Hearn.

But he's created history. First British fighter to unify the whole division - all 4 belts. You'd think thst would be worthy of being headline sports news

Why didn't he sign with Hearn or Warren?

Katie Taylor is Irish and a woman, yet she fights on pay per view.

Scottish boxers have been ignored by the UK and Scottish public in general. Ask the Scottish public who Ricky burns or josh taylor is and they won't know. Personally I had never heard of Ken buchanan before I started watching boxing and even then it was a while before I really found out how great he was. I could name dozens of successful scottish sportstars in sports that I ain't really interested in. If the uk media/public was to get interested in josh taylor then I reckon he would be much more well known in Scotland and the uk. Chris hoy and Andy Murray are prime examples of this. Tbh not really bothered by this because I reckon America/world will soon be interested in josh taylor and he will be a global star anyways.

I remember when Scott Harrison was featherweight champion, I doubt many Scots knew who he was despite having made several successful WBO title defences. He was his own worst enemy though so was always a hard sell to the public.

I guess in small nations with smaller potential audiences it's harder for niche sports to get the attention that the major sports do, or it might simply be down to the lack of general support and interest from the public for said sport. Like when In Jin Chi quit boxing because he was fighting in front of tiny crowds in hotels or school gyms in Korea while being WBC champion.
