A pre Douglas fight for Tyson here for a change.
Tyson, signs to fight The Real Deal, straight after his one round win over Carl Williams.
Holyfield is confident, so is Tyson.
8 year's before they actually meet, who takes it here?

    Holyfield.
At that time Mike Tyson's boxing technique was on the decline well before he faced Douglas- his boxing skills began to erode with the firing of his trainer Kevin Rooney, who was himself a Cus D’Amato disciple.
His new trainer Aaron Snowell, quite frankly didn’t have a clue. Glaring technical errors were evident to the trained eye when he fought Frank Bruno & Carl “the Truth” Williams. Luckily, Mike’s raw power saw him through those two fights.
But against evander, power wouldn't be enough & he also had a very poor training camp.
Evander would likely beat him again but in this case, i believe the 1989-1991 tyson was slightly better than the one who came out of prison.
So i think he would have fared a little bit better. I think he would have lasted longer and if the 1996 Tyson went 11 rounds, then i believe Holyfield would win by an Unanimous decison, with Mike Tyson being on the verge of getting stopped in the 12th round before he gets saved by the bell.

Holy is always his Daddy. Tyson maniacs always have an excuse why he never won the big one against a prime great fighter.

so with the heavyweights which great has won the big ones against a fellow prime great fighter?

Yeah you see, it ain’t never as simple as saying this guy or that guy never won the big one against a prime great fighter? You gotta remember just how few times you get the chance for great heavyweights in their primes meeting and beating other great heavyweights in their primes.

Good question. But a semi shot Tyson went 11 rounds....... 8 years earlier? Tyson was a far better heavyweight at that time. I know people will always say Holy had his number -----but Tysons skills had not eroded to badly at this point. Tyson in 10. A great fight. Holyfield became a much more well rounded fighter and physically stronger in the 90s. Could not believe how much he pushed Tyson backwards after rewatching the 96 fight

At that point, barring a disastrous training camp by Tyson, Tyson wins. Unlike with Douglas (who nobody at the time viewed as a threat), Tyson would take this bout seriously, and, likely stops that version of Holyfield. As time went on, Holyfield continued to improve parts of his game while there is no doubt that Tyson continued to decline.

all depends on the training camp....... Mike's latest book ... god I forgot the name. Is a must read. He completely exposes himself as to his training. Most of us ---I should say "me" would never go into our demons like he did. I dont see anyone beating him 86-92 if he was focused. His defense which was his forte slipped so badly.

Tyson started to decline after he fired Rooney, he looked really bad v Bruno, Holy would have stopped him at that point.

I’d probably still lean towards Holyfield. For Tyson to win this we’d have to go back to when Kevin Rooney was in his corner. I’m thinking from about the Pinklon Thomas fight to the Michael spinks match

IMHO, The Real Deal still beats Iron Mike. But I sure did like watching Tyson fight in his prime. Very exciting fights!

I look at Tyson in the Biggs fight, and that's when I see him really at his most destructive. He wanted to really hurt his man in there, plus it was the best attribute s of him in there.
But I still believe that Tyson in 1989 was a force to be reckoned with. As well as that, this fight would have happened instead of Holyfield's fight with Dokes.
That was a great scrap, it also showed Holy getting hit quite often. Idk, maybe Holy always beats him. Not sure if I 100 percent buy in to that.

Yeah I’ll never be able to decide on what would have happened had these guys met in the late 80s instead of when they actually did. I can see arguments favoring both.
