Big Difference, Mayweather retired undefeated, he walked away after beating a list of champions, when those champions win then Mayweather still gets some of that shine.

Taylor went on to prove he wasn't a great fighter, he just had a couple of very good wins.

Disagree with you on that. You can't automatically elevate one fighter every time another fighter is getting big wins. It's ridiculous thinking that you have to hand over someone else's accomplishments to make the other fighter look better.

There's a reason why people rank Duran higher than Hagler, Hearns, SRL, Benitez even though he lost to all of them.

Like Rummy, I can't see any way Pacman can win against Spence.

Which, is EXACTLY what I said before the Thurman fight!!!

Spence is a different proposition to Thurman though, bigger, tougher and higher IQ. But I would also say a bit slower too. Can Manny's speed and angles cause Spence problems early like they did to One Time?

IMO that's Manny's best shout here - to hurt Spence early and get a KO. The longer the fight goes on the worse it gets for Pac, and the better it gets for Spence.

UD Spence or possible late TKO.

Very difficult to pick Manny when he'll be almost be 43 y/o which is positively ancient for a smaller fighter and we haven't seen him in a ring for two years. Spence is a natural 154 pounder who is all sinew and muscle at 147 and when he eventually summons the courage to move up in weight, like Crawford, Teofimo, Haney, and Stevenson, he'll be big at new weight too. Manny's a natural 140 pounder.

If this was a younger closer to prime active Manny I'd pick him in a heartbeat even though Spence is way naturally bigger than him. However, this is an ancient in both chronological age and ring years inactive Manny who hasn't fought in two years and there's a very good chance he will have declined significantly since his last ring appearance and he could be shot to bits for all we know.

Natural 154 pounder who is 31 y/o, active and smack bang in the midst of their prime

    vs

Near 43 y/o natural 140 pounder who is way past their best and hasn't fought in two years

I think at this stage of Pac's career it's a bridge too far, especially with the inactivity on top of his age.

But I think Pac will have some success early, I don't think it will be an easy nights work for Spence as his style suits Pac. I think Pac's speed, lateral movement and skills will see him win the first half of the fight. But then he'll fade and Spence will start taking over and win a competitive decision.

So Pac will lose but will look good doing it and Spence will struggle and look bad doing it. This was always a no win situation for Spence. He dominates, Pac was old and shot, he struggles in anyway he's not fit to carry Pac's jockstrap. But if Spence is ever to be a real star he's needs to beat a name like Pac, just like when Pac beat De La Hoya.

What's up with the "near 43 y/o" thing? He's 42, which is plenty old, no need to dramatize it. You are not the only one doing it, but it's strange and a bit silly.

It's one of the oldest unspoken rules of ESB and I stopped playing by my own rules long ago. You always add a year on top of an old fighter's age. But come fight night he'll be closer to 43 than 42 so he's 42 going on 43

I'm using Manny's ring age based on wars and 3 KOs, so he's 103.

Floyd's last three "fights": a slapper from another sport (Conor Macgregor)
    A 98 pound Japanese teenager
A YouTube celebrity with three total bouts.

    Mannys last three fights:

WBA Welterweight bout vs Adrian Broner (33-3-1)
WBA Superwelterweight bout vs undefeated champ Keith Thurman (29-0)
IBF Welterweight champ, undefeated Errol Spence jr (27-0).

I've said from the start of this Spence will understand the audience wants to see Pac walk away from this intact.

I think the most dangerous possibility will be if Pac can make it competitive or be ahead through 7 then Spence has to start worrying.

I'm terrible with lists but my thought is Pac would still be quite a ways from #1, top 10 would be debatable.

It might be the greatest single win of all time though and hopefully the more historically knowledgable can evaluate that claim if it happens.
