I chose 114-112 in favour of Fury by my actual view is it was 115-112 Fury. I shared the opener, gave Wilder the 2nd, 9th and 12th of which i scored both a 10-8 round. Fury won all the rest 10-9.
I think a lot of fans feel that way and I don't think that's unreasonable. However there were several rounds that were close. (the first two rounds for example) Maybe there were 3 or 4 rounds that were close enough to give to Wilder if you were really looking to give a round to Wilder. But Wilder didn't win any rounds outside of the knockdown rounds clearly. Did he maybe edge out 2 or 3 of those rounds on "clean punching" or "quality punching" enough to get a draw? It's arguable but it's a stretch and giving Wilder enough rounds for a draw may be favorable judging.
I thought this was pretty clear tbh. Can't really see an argument for giving Wilder any other rounds (Perhaps the first which was a feel out round but I disagree) I can also see an argument for the knockdown rounds being scored 10-9 Wilder, as I felt Fury won the rest of the rounds outside of the knockdown.
Watching live I had it 113 - 113. 7 rounds Fury, 5 rounds Wilder with two KD. Watching the replay I scored it the same. I think draw is the right decision and not a robbery at all. Fury won 2 rounds clearly but all the other rounds were actually quite close as both men missed a lot of punches.
Bumping to hype up the 3rd fight and because the other similar thread has been taken over by GGG Canelo debates.
As you bumped this debate, and wanted to discuss the merits of your card in the other thread, I will respond this way. Rather than arguing who is right and wrong in how we personally score a fight, I will speak to the average. Looking at Eyes on the Ring, there were 51 fan cards submitted. It is not such a large sample size, but I think we can probably assume it contain some hardcore Fury fans, some hardcore Wilder fans, and peoples different views on how they score a fight. But we can probably also assume Eyes on the Ring attracts people will a relatively strong interest in boxing, that they went as far as to score the fight and upload their scores. I'm going to define a round as being close if the ratio of votes were anywhere between 80:20 (approx) and 50:50 From those 51 fan cards we can say that there were only 3 rounds that were "close" Rounds 1 (Wilder 19:82 Fury) Rounds 2 (Wilder 60:44 Fury) and Rounds 4 (Wilder 22:81 Fury) (note they don't add to a perfect ratio of 100 due to 10-10 rounds) You suggest: "Fury won 2 rounds clearly but all the other rounds were actually quite close", this clearly goes against the data. From the above we can see there were three "close" rounds of which one was what we can call a swing round, i.e. round 2. On a personal note, the above was very close to how I scored the fight live: I split the opening 2 rounds, one a piece between Wilder and Fury. I then gave Wilder the 4th and of course the 9th and 12th. So of the three "close" rounds I gave Wilder 2 and Fury 1 (and I was probably influenced by the idea of Wilder being the champion if I am honest) That gave me a card of 114-112 for Fury. So lets assume your scoring is close to the average, to give Wilder a draw you have to give all three close rounds to Wilder. Which would suggest a bias toward Wilder. To give Wilder a narrow win would indicated an unreasonable bias toward Wilder. To give Wilder a wide win...you get the point. So lets look at the official cards: We have three supposedly neutral judges so perhaps we can expect three cards to fall within a range of: ( This content is protected ) 116-110, 115-111 ( This content is protected ), 114-112 ( This content is protected ), 113-113 ( This content is protected ) One gives Fury 114-112 ( This content is protected ) One has it a draw 113-113 ( This content is protected ) One gives Wilder 115-111 ( This content is protected ) Hence this was a robbery. p.s. you are welcome to score it 113-113 everyone looks for different things, but based on the above reasoning I think you are biasing Wilder with your scoring criteria.
Wilder with the knock downs and general boxing won three rounds max. Even the first knock down, he lost the rest of the round so I question whether that round can be given to him because Fury recovered very quickly, showed excellent defence and made Wilder miss and neutralized his offence therefore based on the criteria where Canelo gets most of the rounds by his fans where he throws very little punches, that round she be 10-9 instead of 10-8
Ok all that aside here is my scorecard: 01. Wilder 10 - Fury 09 02. Wilder 10 - Fury 09 03. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 04. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 05. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 06. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 07. Wilder 10 - Fury 09 08. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 09. Wilder 10 - Fury 08 10. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 11. Wilder 09 - Fury 10 12. Wilder 10 - Fury 08 113 - 113 Draw The 1st, 2nd and 7th could've easily gone to Fury but I felt Wilder did just enough to be awarded those rounds. Happy to read thru your breakdown of those rounds. Without the knockdowns Fury would've won this 9 - 3 and even tho Fury did very well in the rounds he was knocked down, it wasn't enough to change those from 10 - 8 for Wilder.
I think (although not necessarily wrong) this would be a best case scenario for Wilder. I’d flip round 1 personally though.
Yeah, there isn't another round to give Wilder even tho some of them were quite close. So I agree that a draw is Wilders best case scenario. And that happens to be the way I scored it live and on multiple rewatches. A Fury win is also a fair result. I just don't agree with the robbery narrative. If the two knockdowns didn't occur then it's a landslide victory for Fury and a draw would be a blatant robbery. However the knockdowns did happen and are usually scored accordingly.
