Canelo wasn't prime when he fought GGG. Canelo still had "gassing" issues remember, when he fought GGG Canelo still was developing as a fighter and was adjusting to moving up in weight. He was thrown in with GGG after only a tune-up vs Cheeseburger Jr, before that he was only fighting 154-lbers or blown up welters like Cotto or Khan. Imagine what current Canelo would do to the slightly past prime GGG he beat. It wouldn't be nearly as close now. Canelo is finally now in his prime. The difference between prime GGG at 33 years old vs the slightly past prime version at 35/36 who fought Canelo is less than the difference between the pre-Prime Canelo who fought him vs current Canelo who is now fully in his prime. So you can make excuses that GGG was out of his prime when he fought Canelo and a prime GGG would have done better, but on the flip side, Canelo still had not yet entered his prime and he still beat GGG. So what does that tell you? That tells you that neither Canelo or GGG were in their prime when they fought. GGG was slightly post-prime while Canelo was still pre-prime. But if you take the best verson of GGG, lets say GGG when he fought David Lemieux and put that version against current Canelo we would get an even better more high intensity battle. The truth is we didn't get the absolute best versions of GGG or Canelo when they fought but they still gave us two epic battles.
I can repeat that again. Old past prime GGG beat Clen twice and over 70% of boxing fans agree with me.
You can repeat lies all you want but GGG never beat Canelo, and Canelo wasn't in his prime yet. Current, fully prime Canelo would destroy that GGG.
Canelo was still far from entering his prime when he fought GGG, and he still beat GGG twice, once officially. Imagine what current Canelo would do to GGG. Scary huh.
Both great fighters and have achieved a lot but Donaire is 0-2 against the best fighters he's fought, (Rigo/Inoue) and Canelo should be 0-3-1 against the best he's fought, (Floyd, GGG, and Lara). As things stand, i'd probably give the edge to donaire but i've little doubt Canelo will overtake him.
lets be real. everyone loves nonito, and he is a truly great fighter, but canelo is on a higher level. im not talking skillwise, which is another debate, im talking impact and recognition in the sport. canelo is steadily breaking records manny pac style, has been a staple of p4p lists for a minute, and is currently recognized as the best fighter on the planet. lets not let love or hate cloud our judgement.
Should? We're not dealing with hypotheticals and your skewed interpretation of what you think you saw. The reality is Canelo is 2-1-1 vs Floyd, GGG and Lara. That's what happened. That's an outstanding record vs that level of competition. The picture you're trying to paint that when he stepped up and fought top opposition he failed is completely ludicrous. When tested vs the very best in the sport, Canelo delivered, he passed those tests with flying colors and performed at a very high level in each and every one of those contests.
I can repeat it again Canelo has the official win and there is nothing that can change that, And Canelo will be a top ATG when he retires ggg should be lucky if he even enters as ATG , even if he does Canelo will rank higher now deal with it and stop crying...
