Hearn and Joshua would have no liability. The liability would be on those who broke a contract.

I think you need to read the OP again.
    Read what Finkel is saying.

And they assumed Al Haymon and Shelly Finkel were doing what ? Being incompetent ?
Like I said before, we all knew there was a serious dispute going through the arbitration courts between two sides who are both shrewd and competent operators.
    Hearn knew too.
No one would have 100% believed it could only go the way they wanted it to go.

He spoke too soon. He was probably annoyed at Wilder's accusations and excuses, to be fair.
But there is a contract. One that he already signed. Unfortunately.
It seems to mean a lot to you to save Matchroom's and Hearn's reputation ? Why is that ?

The irony is, the only way Hearn being completely "blameless" in whatever has occurred (which really amounts to fans being gullible enough to consider a fight ON before it's officially been announced by all parties) is if we think Hearn's more gullible that the fans, completely clueless in business, and duped by others.
I personally hold Eddie Hearn is higher regard that that.

    " induced a breach of a contract "
    That's what Finkel said.
    Look it up.

I think he has a point. If the Joshua-Fury fight had gone through, Hearn would have been hammered with lawsuits too.

I think people do need to read carefully what Shelly Finkel says in the OP.
    He's spot on.
Some people just get over-defensive and think he's blaming Eddie Hearn for everything. Of course he isn't.

It's funny reading some of these Hearn fanboys citing John ****ing Fury of all people. John Fury ! He knows little more than us. He possibly talks to his son on the phone sometimes, but that's it. Tyson Fury doesn't seem to know what's fully going on either !

Listen to the WINNERS in this case. The winners are Finkel and Haymon.
Not Eddie Hearn, or Bob Arum, or Frank ****ing Warren. Not the two fighters who are probably both very pissed off about missing out on the HUGE payday. Certainly not John Fury !
Listen to the man who kept his mouth shut all this and got on with the business. He's talking sense here. For you guys who don't seem to get it. Read it.

I still don't see how matchroom would be responsible for induce a breach of contract when they never saw the contract.

Their defence would simply be they were not privy to such a contract and there partners in top rank never informed them that contractually AJ v Fury wasn't possible.

One can't argue Hearn isn't that gullible to believe arbitration wasn't an issue yet at the same time claim his really that stupid to risk putting his company through legal action and potential expensive financial liabilities.

Hearn was well aware that Wilder and Fury were in arbitration and that the arbitration was over a rematch clause that bound them to a third fight.

Knowing that and trying to induce Fury into a contract for a fight outside of that clause is contract interference — and it is actionable.

That only would have happened if Eddie actually signed an AJ-Fury fight, which I gather never quite happened. But consider he kept saying everything was in order, he had it all lined up but he never officially announced it — Shelly is saying he did not do so because he knew he would be opening himself up to a lawsuit.

And you can well believe that every utterance from Hearn and Fury indicating that Tyson was taking another fight were put square in front of the arbitration judge by Wilder’s side to make it clear that Tyson was trying to move forward before the rematch clause was ruled upon, which probably did not endear Arum/Fury’s side to the judge.

So Eddie helped sabotage his own fight.

Obviously it's probably not a clear-cut "inducing a breach of contract", there would be differing legal opinions and I'm not one so I won't go down that road with this ....... and it didn't get that far anyway. The contract has not been breached.
The point is, Hearn probably was aware of possible lawsuits and he was savvy enough to keep clear of saying anything other than exactly what you are saying. He distanced himself, quite rightly, from anything to do with that.

But we're talking about in the hypothetical scenario where the AJ-Fury fight would go ahead, finalized completely, against a court's ruling (before or after), eg. if Arum/Fury press on with Hearn hoping to buy Wilder off in further proceedings at a later date (ie, being sued for damages). In such a case, or similar scenarios, of course, Hearn would open himself up for being hit with lawsuits too.
Maybe you're a lawyer and have decided that Hearn could not lose anything, fine, but he'd still have to fight lawsuits if it all reached such a situation. There's no way he'd have escaped being dragged into the legal wranglings.

But this is all a minor detail in the main point.
    Hearn KNEW.
    WE ALL KNEW.
We all knew Finkel and Haymon might win this thing and force the Wilder fight.

Pretty sure Hearn wanted to make the AJ vs Fury fight for the summer, there's no reason to doubt his intention. But I don't think he was being naive and simply ignoring the Wilder arbitration. 2nd prize from all this was a massive amount of publicity about and beef between the two fighters which will just fan the flames for when the fight eventually takes place, now it's been delayed. I mean look at the thousands of words written on this forum alone about a fight that never got made. And it's been all over the online sports pages, YouTube etc.

I'm sure his preference was to make the fight for summer - because now there's a risk either AJ or Fury, or both will lose - but the cause of the delay was out of his hands. Yet here were are talking about Fury vs AJ ad nauseum. Imagine what it will be like in December, or perhaps next summer at Wembley?
