Agreed. He’s still a kid too.
Have a feeling he might become a bit floyd like in that he doesn’t carry much power but boxers brilliantly. People will eventually tune in to see if he loses.

he beats garcia with ease imo.

Teo vs Haney is the one that would be a bigger test. Would slightly favour Teo but it’s great fight

Very good fight that. If only the bell came 10 seconds later in round 10. I had Linares winning 3 before the 10th and then 11 and 12, so closer than a lot. Interesting to see how nobody I’ve seen gave Linares round 10. In that Liam Smith fight (and many others) the Russian did that twice to Smith in the last seconds after getting battered all round. Everyone then automatically gave the Russian the round. I had debates on here and in person about this, with people arguing that that automatically switches the winner of the round which I said is bollocks. I wanted Linares to win I’ve always loved him since that Mitchell fight but I didn’t give him the 10th despite that great flurry and massive right hand so at least I’m consistent. I think people score based on their agenda far too much.

At first in the 11th I was praising Linares for not smothering his work trying to get him out. That’s not a surprise as he’s a class act but he seemed to then take too long and let him off the hook slightly. Haney’s hugging in the 12th was extreme haha. I’m not really a fan, I have to like a personality for that but he is very good, he’d beat Garcia I think but the Lopez fight is going to be good.

I think he's a very talented young fighter but I just don't see him as this 'world beater' that many others do.

I think he's the weakest of the 4 and would bet on Tank, Teo and Garcia all beating him.

I'd favor him to beat tank and Garcia but lose to teo currently, they are all cracking fights let's hope we see at least 1.

He boxed beautifully for almost 10 rounds until he got chinned. I don't think that's a reflection of a poor chin, Linares punches hard and that's boxing, nobody is immune from getting bambi legs off a great shot.

He did well to get through that adversity although he should have had a point deducted. I felt the referee gave him a massive hand by allowing him to hold that much. It's like Ian John Lewis with Dillian over here. The home fighter tends to get all the help.

Linares looked old. The timing is off, the punch output isn't what it used to be and his legs don't move him out of harms way anymore. He's had a great career, I hope he retires now though.

I see loma and teofimo beating him, garcia might be a 50/50 fight.

Linares looked old and done 2 and a half years ago, Haney quite simply had to win this, an ageing guy of over 50 fights who had been stopped in all of his 5 defeats prior to this one, the one two and a half years ago was a clear sign that he was done at the top level.

Teo beats him and I don't think he carries the power to trouble Tank whilst Garcia has also an "equalizer" himself which Haney doesn't seemingly have.

He's young though so it could develop but I think those names are ahead of him and will remain so... but hey ho maybe I'll be proved wrong.

One thing for sure though, it's a fantastic division with the 4 of them in it and they NEED to fight each other.

If they don't then it's yet another tragedy for boxing

Floyd was a massive puncher 140 and below. Even at 147 guys couldn't just walk through him. Floyd was safety first too.

Haney went toe to toe and didn't buzz Linares once. Linares is known for being a bit Chinny and he is clearly well past his best.

People were saying Haney had Malignaggi power lol.

Paulie wasn't impressed by the comparison.

Paulie "FFS I'm Earnie Shavers compared to that kid"

If Haney had concrete in his gloves he would still be a poor man's Floyd because he doesn't have a chin lol.

    KingRy would decapitate Haney

Haney is decent boxer but his lack of power and perhaps chin issue will be a real hindrance to beating the top guys.

Maybe I was being a tad harsh on Linares but I really did think, after the Cano annihilation, that he was done. I think he's had a great career and I said so back then but after that I thought that it was never going to go any other way than down and despite going the distance with a decent prospect in Haney (I can't look at Haney in any other way at the moment) I don't think he should fight again, nothing to prove to anyone either.

The fight reminded me of arguello v Pryor. Linares was caught out by Haney darting in and his better flexibility and range of motion. Linares was just too rigid and upright. He never did really solve Haney, time him etc Haney's jab and right hook to the body were very sharp. He is very talented.

I've been a Linares fan for years, he's had a great albeit up and down career. I'd like to see him call it a day now, like you said nothing else to prove.

I think the Cano fight he was caught cold and it was a step to far in terms of weight particularly against an underrated puncher.

But yes you are right, Linares has had a fantastic career and has little else to prove.
