Understood, BJS is a quitter and a softie with no heart or stones. I'll be sure to remember this when evaluating Canelo's resume.
I fully acknowledge there are many a boxer that fight through crazy injuries Fair play to them, my only point is that i would not give any pro boxer a hard time for thinking ahead and living to fight (or see in this particular case) another day Its not always stupidity of course not, some are just made of sterner stuff We all know when our body tells us to give up , some get that message sooner than others So i don't know if the struggling with this comment was aimed at my comments but honestly I'm not struggling with it

i was just speaking generally, nobody particular in mind. it seems we praise these guys who have tremendous heart, make heros of them, right up till our favorite fighter proves to not measure up. then its all irresponsible madness. this is fighting. heart, has always been a measure of a fighter. always will be. just like in real life, 90% of us aint gonna measure up to the special ones. thats why theyre special...and why we arent.
Well, pro boxing is really far from actual very competitive sport like Olympic wrestling cos multiple reasons: in pro boxing your record might be properly developed, there a lot of tools: different notice period for A side guy and his opponent till level that on fight card 2-3-7 days before fight is named prospect and as opponent TBA. Then there ofc is opponents selection, cherry picking and pro boxing in only one from rare fighting sports where even some 0-10 record guys still are needed for business or sport. A lot of them are telling that they are warriors, soldiers, there will be duel. They needs attention to get more attention. Better tickets sales, more ppvs. In no case they are something close to WW2 or WW1 war soldier, not alone medieval warriors. To compare pro boxing match with duel too is insane. Duels had 50% and more than 50% chances to die in 1 single duel. Not rare cases winner too had died, without modern medicine death % from injuries was high, winner too might be injured.
There are murmurings going around that the injury isn’t as bad as first feared and that therefore BJS will be able to make a full recovery. It was a sensible point in the fight for him to quit, with the injury and the fact that Canelo was about to knock him out anyway. The issue with the BJS quit, was the comments he made about Dubois and Kell Brook Brook previously. You can’t make comments like that and then not expect stick when you quit due to an eye injury. He also didn’t fight on as long as either of those two did.
Well either that, or come out afterwards and eat your original words - there'd be no shame in him coming out now and calling his past self an idiot with no concept of what that kind of injury really is (and that his present self, now knowing, does not endorse that lunacy). If more fighters did this, it would help start to break the cycle a bit. IMHO
I have never liked, nor do I feel any respect for bjs. But if he came out and said he had been completely out of line with his prefight comments and he apologized to Dubois and said he had no right to judge him, I would actually have to give him respect for that. Of course it’s completely out of character, and not who I think bjs is. If it was, he wouldn’t be in this predicament to begin with.
Too much nonsensical comments here. Fighters have to sell the fight and themselves to drive up the ppvs, to attract boxing fans and casuals to the fight and to get into the head of your opponent. Tyson commented if he doesn't die it doesn't count but then you see him smiling, hugging his opponent. Similarly him having a rough dirty and frustrating time with Botha where it gets really personal only for him to rush to Botha to help him up. That's what you want to see in the end.
