So no direct quote from Pac saying he's afraid of needles... And yeah, there's a video of Pac saying that he felt giving blood close to a fight weakened him — long before a Floyd fight was even a possibility. So not something he pulled out of his ass.
I noted it wasn’t exactly what you’re looking for. I don’t think he is or ever has been a bit afraid of needles. I think he’s afraid of (a) what a real drug test regimen would reveal and (b) fighting without PEDs. But he clearly wanted cover for not agreeing to blood testing. Freddie is his longtime right hand — he said Manny is afraid. Pacquiao could have easily said, ‘wait, no, that’s not true.’ He sure hasn’t gone out of his way to correct it.
1) Pac wanted a cut off for the reason that he believes (and stated in a video years before a Floyd fight was even a possibility) having blood drawn close to a fight weakens him 2) Pac has hurt/dropped every opponent in his VADA-tested fights (side note: Floyd refused VADA testing and the $5 million dollar penalty) 3) Pac sued to clear his name (unlike for example Clenelo who threatened to sue GGG, but never executed)
