Smiths problem wasn't only making weight at 168 imo:- - At 6' 3 he does not use his natural height advantage with a commanding jab - Get's hit far too often - Not shown huge amount of adaptability or ring IQ Mundo seems like a nice guy, and I'd like to see him prove me wrong, but unless he addresses his shortcomings, he will fall short against the best @ 175.
The only advantage he had at 168lb is now gone, size + weight. He will continue to struggle with the top guys. This is just a temp fix. He needs a complete overhaul. Trainer, promoter, manager etc.
I can see him beating all apart from Bivol and Beterbiev. Possible tasty domestic scraps against Jonhson, Buatsi, Arthur and Yarde too.
There is no reason he shouldn't fight Buatsi within a year. Although he is coming off a loss to Canelo his value is probably as high as it is going to be without a belt. Buatsi is very good but his opposition has been really poor and he needs a fight like Callum Smith.
Before Canelo fight he was the best at 168 and Canelo was supposed to ducked him?,Now that Canelo beat him Smith is a one dimensional fighter??? You guys are a joke...
No, the thread presented the proposition of Smith at 175. People gave their opinion. I doubt anyone other than you was thinking of Canelo when they did so. Not all of us wake up thinking of Canelo...
It will not be easy and 175 lbs division lads might not allow him to travel till cards. With Bivol he ofc does have real chances to end fight on his own legs. This boxer isn't now retired Gvozdyk, not alone 30-35 y.o Beterbiev versions where he had 0 chances to go till cards. 175 does have a lot of huge and athletic dudes, these not rarerly are like trimmed down small or medium size CW boxers for better insight what it is there at 175. 175 is interesting division, some dudes are like small CW boxers there, some does have very good reach for this weight class boxers. At 168 he had enough good reach.
