Hearn having the cheek to say “This doesn’t mean the death of the PPV, but the PPV will be reserved for those special fights including AJ” phrasing it in a way as though the consumer wants PPV to prevail.

AJ's ppv numbers say the consumer is more than happy with paying to watch AJ fight.

I can't blame AJ if he sticks with sky. Giving up a lot of money if DAZN cant give him similar guarantees to what sky box office provides.

You are correc tits the biggest sport globally and DAZN have the rights to many competitions in the respective countries serie a in Italy, Bundesliga in Germany etc. So they are doing ok

I agree but i am pretty sure they could offer him bigger guarantees given they can screen the fight globally and not just in the UK. £10m from UK, £10m from US, £5m from Europe, £5m from Asia etc is better than £20m from Sky PPV plus a few other territories thrown in.

You could well be right and perhaps I did misread it but if PPV nights are part of the subscription why use the term PPV at all ?? Wouldn't those big fights normally reserved for PPV just be another card on the standard DAZN schedule ??
Early days and a lot of details to be clarified but I'm sure you understand with Eddie's track record why some of us are suspicious.

Yeah I get that. I thought he was referring to that as its possible AJ signs with Sky so matchroom would still be doing PPV's on sky box office.

As I posted on the main forum I struggle to see how for example AJ v Fury or AJ v Wilder gets made on DAZN with no PPV on the AJ side.

Joint broadcast in the US means ESPN and Fox respectively run a PPV but fans could just sign up to DAZN which kills there PPV revenue.

In the UK AJ v Fury would see BT do a ppv but again nobody would buy it if they could just sign up to DAZN.

I don't see how those fights happen without both sides running PPV's.

Any UK fighters with Warren that have deals ending soon which Hearn could now want and has the budget to sign to matchroom?

The issue of PPV on top of a DAZN subscription could prove contentious. It’s no different to what happens now with Sky (obviously on a much smaller scale) but it still could make marketing tricky.

Matchroom don’t have a set amount of PPVs a year so they couldn’t do a higher price all inclusive like the WWE Network.

Yep and expecially if any marketing is mentioning the words 'no ppv'.

If Joseph Marowski is using AJ vs Fury as the one example then that probably wouldn't matter but at the same time if it's only fights such as that then realistically there wouldn't be many as how many more fights like that are out there?

AJ vs Whyte? AJ vs Wilder? And thats if they manage to get AJ. If not im not really seeing any signed matchroom fighters that could be in fights on a similar scale like an AJ vs Fury.

I don't see the casuals being as interested without the SKY machine. And I don't know about anyone else but to me those youtube channels are getting stale.

Sky will be pissed if they lose AJ without getting the Fury fight though.

Isn't he kinda in a no risk situation in the sense DAZN ain't going out of business anytime soon so its not like a setanta and he should get all the money DAZN are due to play over the 5 years. Maybe DAZN have a get out clause after a few couple years if subs are not being generated but not sure Hearn would risk that when he had guaranteed money from the Sky.

I guess the only worry would be if gate receipts start to go down.

Not really sure how many subscribers DAZN are aiming to get. Still think without the more sport appealing to the the non hardcore isn't easy.

Even if it say only went up to £4.99 a month sports fan I think want more than just 1 sport.

The Olympics done and dusted soon. Eddie will sign a new wave of talent up after that, from the UK and beyond.

If it is that cheap, then you'd imagine they invision making money off the people that subscribe and forget about their subscription.

Kind of like gym membership, isn't it common knowledge gyms make more money from people that don't use the gym as opposed to people that do, if you know what i mean.....

Personally, I'm not sure what to think of it myself.

On the one hand, you have the promise of decent fights and content for a relatively small fee, but in the other, there's the small inconvenience of how to actually watch it on your telly
