Why should he go back to 126 ? He looked fat and slow there. Almost unrecognizable. I was quite delighted when I heard he head back to Bantamweight and succeed.
I don’t think he’s a weight bully, but then it does annoy me that some posters here will defend him but then call other fighters weight bullies based on no evidence other than they ‘look big’ at the weight. Donaire has definitely ‘looked big’ at all weights between 112-118. I personally don’t care, but I don’t get why some guys get pilloried for ‘looking big’ at a weight and others don’t. FWIW Donaire is about 5’5 1/2” (there’s a video of him with Pac where you can see that they are almost the exact same height but Pac is clearly heavier set - consistent with them probably being about 130 and 150) and a pretty skinny guy, so he’s hardly big.
Nery got flack because he missed weight on more than one occasion, beat Yamanaka without even bothering to make weight and actually cheated, used illegal substances to make weight you ignorant tool. Donaire however, easily makes weight while being under very strict drug testing in VADA 24/7/365 which he pays for himself.
ATG Bantamweight? He didn't fight Moreno, Agbeko, Mares, or Perez. He lost clearly to Inoue, and he got two gimmes in the WBSS. The UK dude lost his balls mid fight and he fought a replacement scrub after that. Oubaali wasn't that good either.
Inoue is average height at the weight. It´s why many think that featherweight will be his absolute ceiling. Donaire is just slightly taller. And as I have pointed out in previous posts, Donaire isn´t that big. Or big at all.
So you have no actual argument. Right. Just because you don´t like Hopkins, doesn´t mean you should go around making up BS. There is plenty to criticize him for. Him being a "weigh bully" is not one.
Like I said, plenty to criticize. And I will say it again, Hopkins being a "weight bully" is just BS. That is one thing he was not. Dude could have made 154 if he really wanted to. He weighed 156lbs for De La Hoya.
