Be surprised if Hearn has not got a personal guarantee from the DAZN owners personal wealth incase company goes bust. My feeling is they wont go bust. If i was them i would not have ppv, and instead in month prior to a Joshua fight (if they get him) put subscription cost up to £20 for new subscribers in first month to get revenue from casuals then lower it to normal amount for new subscribers the following month. Either that or have 2 packages, one say £9.99 a month includes all fights and one that doesnt have 4 or 5 ppv type events for £4.99 a month.

I remember reading that that a big percentage who sub to netflix for 3 months minimum will not cancel regardless if they don't use it.

Apparently John Wish is taking the helm at sky and will be using a number of different promoters. In some ways that's a healthier proposition to just the one promoter having the monopoly.

Where as any company can go bust, DAZN is financed by the richest man in britain, Sir Len Blavatnik, who's fortune went up £7.2 billion in 2020 ( during a pandemic) to over £23 billion. They are very deep pockets. It's probably a tax right off to him.

The losers here are football fans who like a bit of boxing. If, like me, you think football is overpriced and boring then your boxing offer can only be improved by having a dedicated channel that doesn't require you to buy Lamborghinis for footballers.

If DAZN takes off like they intend and eventually hits close to Netflix numbers his wealth will double. Netflix had a value in 2020 of $194 billion.

he’s a smart man with deep pockets. Something like DAZN will work eventually

Yeah but he’s n a case by case basis from different promoters. I expect we will see cards from Wasserman with Eubank on them. Likely PPVs against the likes of Kell Brook. And Hennessy cards with the likes of Egginton and Isaac Chamberlain on free Sky and better opponents than channel 5 as Sky put up higher rights fees. I think we might also see some of the PBC cards back on Sky at the crack of dawn.

I also have a sneaky feeling they will approach Dillian Whyte and offer him and his stable a couple of dates plus PPVs.

No chance of a future PPV with Shell Brook, The Special Done unless it is the Khan fight.

The cohort of PPV Mugths buy anything but the days of Brook v Gavin PPV must be well and truly over.

You get what you pay for. Sky haven’t put up the rights fees for a better card

I can see Eubank Jr now being Sky’s top non PPV fighter if they do start showing Sauerland cards.

If the EPL football went to DAZN, the void cannot be filled as all they can do is get the Scottish Football and develop it into a better product over time.

The same with the boxing as Matchroom FC has gone and Sky will need to start at the bottom again with another promoter(s) and rebuild.

The pay per puddings market will suffer and hope it sinks.
