It's literally entirely Britain's fault that it ever happened. Northern Ireland shouldn't exist as a nation. There shouldn't be a huge Protestant and anti-Irish diaspora in Ireland. That was deliberately created when they took most of Ulster's arable land from the Irish and gave it to British landlords. You as a Brit should be very familiar with your divide and conquer tactics.

I thought it was a bizarre comment that he made. Why belittle someone's history like that? You weren't asking for sympathy or playing the victim, so his attitude was unnecessarily snide. He is clearly very upset about something.
I don't agree with the IRA's methods or ideology but there wouldn't be an IRA in existence if the Brits didn't make the Irish Catholics second class citizens in their own country.
