Pavel Vasilievich Silyagin born August 13, 1993 is a 6'1 Super Middleweight with a 8-0 4 KO's record. Born in Novokuznetsk, Russia and fighting out of Novosibirsk, Russia. While not the prettiest face or the prettiest style imaginable, quite frankly, even his name isn't very pretty. But this odd looking gentleman might just very well be one of the biggest hidden danger men in the Super Middleweight division. He was as solid as solid gets as an amateur sporting a record of 260-40, becoming national champion in 2012 and picking up a Bronze Medal at LHW at the 2015 World Championships along the way. As an amateur he holds impressive wins over the likes of Vladimir Shishkin, Ali Izmailov, Teymur Mammadov, David Nyika and Avni Yildirim. With only amateur wonders Julio Cesar La Cruz and Joe Ward giving him problems. He continued his successful run over to the WSB, as a semi-pro, picking up wins over hyped up Brit prospect Joshua Buatsi and the terrific amateur wonderkind Oleksandr Khyzhniak. So yeah he's good. Since turning pro he's racked up a fairly impressive resume in a short amount of time. His first big scalp was the undefeated Artysh Lopsan, who has since went on to take the 0 of Vijender Singh, then stopping teak tough journeyman Siarhei Khamitski and stopping Omar Garcia in 1, 7 rounds and 3 rounds quicker than Yerbossynuly and Vlasov. But his biggest scalp he's claimed to date is quite impressive Uzbek prospect Azizbek Abdugofurov, who he literally beat to a pulp, dominating him from bell to bell in his first 12 rounder, in an upset I predicted. His style is nightmarish, his offense is his defense, and I mean that in a Joe Calzaghe kind of way. He switches stances effortlessly, isn't all that easy to hit clean, and he throws beautiful one twos right down the middle, pushing his opponents back, then while they're pulling away, he follows them and follows up with awkward looping hooks, and overhand rights and stiff jabs that they are never adequately prepared for. Like Kovalev and Golovkin, he doesn't have to set his feet to punch. His arms are long, he's rangy, he's tall, he's got decent footwork, he's an excellent combination puncher, excellent volume and while he may not be a massive puncher, he has thudding puncher who no one is going to be able to easily walk through. The KO of Garcia was a quick AND heavy combo. Dude was not getting back up! Will keep my eye on this one, definitely has his own thing going on
