Sadly agreed... And especially if he comes in heavier again, I'm just not sure he can afford to get slower again than in the Chisora fight. Not keen on AJ at all, but I don't think he'll need the rematch clause here.
Usyk at his best definitely had a better engine than AJ... The question is how much his age and weight gains will have eaten into that. He'll probably be at a slight disadvantage on the cards too, anything marginal will likely be swung towards Joshua, so he needs a convincing and dominant performance if it goes to the cards... With him being less impressive than he was at CW and up against the most proven fighter in the division, it's a big ask IMHO and I doubt he manages it... but we'll see, that's what makes boxing interesting some times.
And so does condition - Usyk is another 6+ months older since the Chisora fight and seems to have put on more weight too. Given that he already appeared to be slower in the Chisora fight than he was in his prime, I'd say it's fair to question whether his current condition suits his style well enough to make him as much of a nightmare as his prime self would've been (and in the interest of honesty, I have serious doubts)
It certainly blows the division open if he does, and that would good for boxing... At his age, it's probably not for long, but it would still make things interesting. He needs to win twice for that, though - I don't honestly think he'll manage it even once, sadly, let alone twice
Fair. I'm not sure Usyk's stamina is necessarily as guaranteed as it would once have been, though - IMHO he was past his best before stepping up to HW.... Throw in another six months since a lukewarm performance against Chisora and some additional lbs and I'm not necessarily sure Usyk gains as much advantage in the later rounds as we might think, even if the bout isn't over or beyond reach by the time it begins to show. Intriguing for sure, but I'll be very surprised if Usyk pulls it off... Pleased, but very surprised.
People referencing the Chisora right, which is valid, but realistically how many people look "good" against Chisora? His style is ugly and he makes the fight messy. The only person I can remember looking "good" against Chisora was Fury in their second fight.
For me he won comfortably, But yeah, his performance was not best, but also not worst. He is looking slower than before, but still a lot faster than any HW right now.
Jesus Christ... do you lot even watch the fights? Chisora came in like a man possessed, with non stop pressure, not caring about defense, swinging hard for 4 rounds. AJ doesn't do that, if AJ did what Chisora did he'd be gassed after 2-3 rounds. AJ is afraid of getting knocked out and there is no way he'll fight even 30% as aggressively as Chisora did vs Usyk. Chisora is not afraid of getting knocked out, in fact I'd wager he loves the thrill.
Based on what we saw in the Chisora fight, Usyk gets creamed. Frankly, I don't get all the hype around this guy, at Heavyweight. Seems rather ordinary to me. I think when all is said and done,he'll prove to be more David Have than Evander Holyfield.
