Gerry Cooney sparring a tiny man

Carlos Hernandez wasn’t a bad prospect actually. Didn’t go too far but he had a little potential. Unbeaten in his first 15 or so fights before another Cooney opponent named Eddie Greg handed him his first loss. Michael spinks also used Hernandez as a sparring partner in preparation for Tyson

 

I heard Cooney had things his own way in sparring.

 

Maybe he didn't want to be pushed hard like Kovalev?

 

Thanks for the Vid! I enjoyed watching that! I used to box in the Army. I'm a big guy, similar in size to Gerry, This middleweight used to give me all kinds of trouble in sparring. Man was he hard to hit.

 

Again you become even cooler to me.

 

Carlos Hernandez was not a "tiny man." He was 200-210 pounds, but looked tiny next to the very tall 6'7" 230-pound Cooney.

 

I'm very much doubting that's the Hernandez you think it is.

 

The little guy in the video is nowhere close to 200lbs.

 

Cooney here kind of looks like a slow-mo version of Tyson Fury.
