The thread on current, recent light heavy s that perhaps beat The Rock, got me pondering. Let's say right up to 2000,so including cruiser s, that iyo, could get the L on Marciano s record?
John Ruiz and Merqui Sosa were laying gloves on him. Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore and Jersey Joe Walcott couldn't win every round vs Rocky. Don't be ****ing dim.
Sam Langford is the only one I'd maybe make a marginal favourite over him over 15 rounds. Very very hard to keep Rocky occupied for fifteen. Billy Conn and Tommy Gibbons have the tools to keep him busy but they've already been beaten by elite HW punchers, weirdly. So picking them just feels a bit rash. Imagine the scrap he'd be in with Kid Norfolk If you imagine him taking on some of these guys in modern conditions over 12 rounds, thing get a wee bit more interesting. Guys like Maxie Rosenbloom come into contendership then. Once you're into 10 round distance you've reached the tipping point and lots of fellows are worth a mention, and i'd re-include Conn and Gibbons too. Greb, Jack Dillon - busy, elusive men with granite chins is what you are after.
Sosa had better fundamentals than Marciano, like not crossing his feet when punching. He also wasn't as slow as Marciano
Holyfield is a great pick. Carl Thompson vs Marciano!!!!!!! What a fight that would be. Jones jnr would breeze Marciano and so would Toney and Hopkins.
I like the thought of this fight. Holyfield fighting his heart out. I'd say at this weight, obviously Holyfield s had to pack some weight on to challenge him, but he's not the same Real Deal that beat Tyson in a lot of respects. I see it going similar to the first Ezzard Charles ft with both men putting on a great fight with respect between em.
Ahahahahahahahahahaha. Lol. Needed a good laugh... John Ruiz better than Marciano. I get it now, you’re a troll. Carry on then...
