British boxing: why is TALENT inversely proportional to LIKEABILITY?

    Two current examples: Billy Joe Saunders and Josh Taylor. Arguably numbers 1 & 2 in Britain today.
    BJS being number 1 and the infinitely dislikeable Taylor number 2.
    Just look at the response by people on here (ok stupid people, but they're still people, right?) to bjs recent performance against Canelo. Guy gets crucified. Clearly he is not liked.
    The less talented, somewhat overrated, , but still excellent "tartan thug" for me is even less likeable than Billy Joe.
    Why the obnoxious personas? What's that about?

    First of all Taylor is above Saunders and gets nothing but praise from me.

    Taylor may be a twat outside the ring but inside he is sensational and has delivered time and time again.

    Saunders is also a twat outside the ring but doesnt deliver anything inside the ring.

    Why have sympathy for boxers like BJS? They literally give you nothing back

    Of course, at first his actions outside of the ring.
    He for sure get some hate because his talks about DD as quitter etc. A lot of stuff there not only this.
    A lot of british boxing fans are not his fans and never ever will be. Never even if he had KOed Canelo. For sure.
    BJS is less talented than vodka Kovalev, Callum Smith, Daniel Jacobs, Canelo and large bunch with boxers.
    This is what this is.

    Rude d****k , **** ***y talker and sorry, one from most dislikeable british boxers.
    He had earned this with diligence and hard " work " outside of the ring and now will pay for this.

    Taylor originally made a mistake choosing TopRank over Matchroom. So as of this moment he’s not as well known. NOW with TopRank working with Sky that decision just may well pay off.

    It's clear that neither of them are particulary nice guys outside the ring but both have talent and i don't think anyones denied that but Taylor's making the most of his ability whereas BJS never did.

    I get why people don't like Taylor but to compare him with a loathsome reptilian like billy is just wrong.

    Taylor is overrated. He's not as great as his fans think he is. He wouldn't be at BJS level at all imo.
