He was hit everywhere and frequently defended shots with all parts of head.

Spud O'Connor had no idea that Gutknecht was taking too much punishment and neither did Gray with Ritson - both are not Doctors with their expertise being how to ref and judge a fight at the most incompetent levels possible.

Rubbish, another barrage of body shots is hardly going to kill him is it.

You have to go by what you're dealing with.

Ritson was dropped by a body shot in which the corner threw in the towel, the ref assessed that he wasn't seriously hurt and that he wanted to continue, Ritson has agreed with this.

As for him taking shots to the head, I'm afraid that's boxing.
He was never buzzed by any head shots from what i recall, why on earth should the ref have stopped it?
His corner obviously wasn't too concerned about the head shots he was taking or else they would have pulled him out, after all they threw in the towel after a body shot.

Nick Blackwell was never really buzzed either but it was clear as day to anybody watching it he should have been protected.

Oh dear, Corrales was battered silly and badly hurt, I suppose he should have been stopped much earlier against Castillo.

For the majority of the fight he was taking inside shots, not massive power punches.

Another good example and the Jock guy a few years ago who collapsed in the ring and died. No sign of it coming until it happened.

Amazed how some TV fans can have xray vision of all medical issues during fights.

Ritson was bashed up every round including plenty to the head and the corner knew he had enough.

The ref a total disgrace and a danger to fighters - should never be in a ring again.

I have never rated Ritson above British level but don't want to see the guy end up seriously hurt.

No he was not bashed up every round, he was overwhelmed for the majority of the fight but was competitive throughout.

I don't know how many times this needs pointing out to you, he was dropped by a body shot, you're trying to correlate that with head shots.

He beat the count and showed signs of wanting to continue, he then fired back but was soon overwhelmed again before dropping and rightly being stopped.

He was hit all over head and body during the fight and when the corner threw the towel in, the fight should be stopped immediately.

    Gray should be sacked.

It's a fight ffs, Ritson also hit him all over the head and body.

Thank god common sense will prevail, even Ritson and his team were basically agreeing with him in the dressing room.

Did you watch the fight?Ritson barely won a round, safety should always be the priority and the ref was negligent in his duty of care

You clearly didn't i take it.

True he barely won a round but he was competitive throughout, you do know that happens a lot in boxing, clearly not.

Cool so in that case lets just get rid of the towel or a ref stoppage and fight to the death instead.

Ritson has his level but is good to watch at that level. If he can get down safely to Lightweight again, I would love to see him fight Tennyson (now Tennyson wont get chance to beat Tank Davis lol)

People saying the ref did the right thing are absolutely crazy

If a towel comes in, end of fight no arguments

I've not seen the fight and only seen part of the comments on this but has the towel ever come in a fight before and been ignored. I'm sure it's happend in a big fight before but can't remember which one?

Ritson has lost his last 2 fights... Hes not up to it at 140...hard to see where he goes from here.... Unless a domestic rivalry can be engineerd.
