Shakur Stevenson one of the most boring fighters to watch.

A. Not in all fights he was boring B. In some fights he was entertaining C. He had power for sure and also skills, yeah, when he added western elite level training to his EE boxing skills he turned to different fighter. Clinches, holding, still this was Olympic Gold medalist and being mediocre level you even can't to get in the games if you are from Ukraine, not alone to get even bronze medal in the Games, not alone Gold.

He is skilled lad, does have talent. Prefers point fighting and to be defensive oriented.

 

Don't ever compare a majestic midget like Loma to this privileged duller than dishwater entitled little thug ever again.. But seen as u asked, Loma KOd Martinez, Linares to the body, dropped & hurt huge LWs Pedraza & Campbell, was all over Salido & GRJ towards the end , battered Marriaga all over the ring much more impressively than the likes of Walters & Valdez did, nearly killed Crolla & made 4 men quit (Marriaga, Sosa, Rigo, Walters) even had Lopez' (who's basically a drained WW) head spinning on a stick numerous times in the second half of that fight..

The thing with Loma is he's tiny, basically a SFW fighting taller & rangier men.. your power isn't as effective as you move up unless you're jacking herds of cattle meat like the ginger Mexican .. we've seen this with Donaire who is a huge puncher but as he moved up in weight it became less effective.. Loma at his natural weight is a decent puncher undoubtedly. Stevenson would struggle to KO my niece.

BTW, Stevenson probably walks around at over 150… He is taller than Loma too, yet even with those advantages he's still unable to make a dint in pot washers & goat herders.

 

First of all I don't need to tone anything down. The people that need to tone it down are the people piling it on Stevenson. A bad fight and he is instantly turned into a no hoper that was never any good? At 23, he can change. He shows humility by apologizing for the boring fight. Which means he is aware of his short comings. As the old saying goes, you can't fix a problem until you first acknowledge that there is a problem in the first place. Stevenson has checked that box. Now, we wait and see if he makes the necessary changes to please all the fickle boxing watchers. I won't call them fans, because most don't deserve that moniker.

 

Vlad has been critisized for being a boring fighter. Calzaghe has been critisized for not packing a punch. Bring up a thread about JC and someone will call him Calslappy. Yet, they are legends. At 23, Stevenson can improve.

 

Loma just had interview and he said that Shakur was sparring with him and he was very tired, because shakur was 3th person in a row who he was sparring with, and even after that, Shakur was holding him after Loma was coming close

It would be interesting to see the videotapes, as we all know, he always makes videos to watch it later and improve his skills. I wish he could resease some of it after Natakani fight.

 

Wlad and Joe had their haters, but it really wasn't because they were boring nor feather-fisted.

It was really because they were from Eastern Europe and the UK, respectively. Their haters had a preference for American boxers.

 

LOL Pulling the race card? Would you respect me if I said that the only reason Stevenson is being critisized is because he is black? And only whites are critisizing him. Vlad had some boring fights, Calz lost pop after his hand issues. This is fact. Doesn't take away from their legend on this site. Both well respected after the walked away from the sport. Too early to say with Stevenson.

 

The difference is, all nationalistic biases aside, Stevenson really is boring to watch.

Wlad and Calzaghe were not, except in the minds of their haters.

 

Shakur HAD to apologize after talking stupid and making promises about this and that.

 

Can't agrue that he stunk up the place. At least he's straight up about his performance, not saying he put on a boxing lesson or some nonsense like that.

 

I watched much of Vlads fights and he too had some boring fights. It happens. Fury? Calz was an exciting fighter, but lacked pop due to hand injuries. Both highly regarded. Not critisizing them, just making a point that they were critisized during their careers and are now respected. Stevenson may be looked at in the same way 15-20 years from now. Only time will tell. Give the guy a break. He's young still.

 

That's no surprise kid brings the punk style of boxing to the main stream. Well, grabbing and running will be employed in hard fights not just in sparring.

 

Vlad? If being are going to talk about Wlad at least spell it the right way
