the punch of both is different because of deontay when he throws a power punch he always puts some of them down until he throws them away from the place where they were standing but shavers is a punch because he doesn't throw you away but he puts you to sleep they are like anxiety in the fists

gonna copy paste a youtube comment :

Ali fought the likes of George Foreman, Sonny Liston, Clevland Williams, Henry Cooper, Ron Lyle, Earnie Shavers etc And said that Earnie Shavers hit him the hardest.
Larry Holmes fought Mike Tyson, Earnie Shavers, Gerry Cooney etc He claimed that Earnie Shavers hit him the hardest.
Ron Lyle fought Earnie Shavers, George Foreman, Gerry Cooney and claimed that Earnie Shavers hit him the hardest.
James Tillis fought Mike Tyson and Earnie Shavers. He claimed that Earnie Shavers hit him the hardest.
Joe Bugner fought Earnie Shavers, Frank Bruno and Ron Lyle. He claimed that Earnie Shavers hit him the hardest.

    That should answer it.

When he fought Shavers, he said Earnie hit him hard enough to jar his kinfolks in Africa.

But if you followed Ali for more than one day, you know he used the same lines over and over and over and over and over and over again ... if they got a laugh.

Ali's "He (FILL IN THE BLANK) hit me so hard he shook my kinfolks in Africa" was a laugh line he used all the time. Like he'd tell a reporter "You're not as dumb as you look." (cue laughs)

    * Ali told Henry Cooper when Cooper was suprised on "This Is Your Life" that Cooper hit him so hard he shook his kinfolks in Africa.
    * Ali said after his staged "Computer Fight" with Rocky Marciano that Rocky hit him so hard he shook his kinfolks in Africa.
    * Ali said the same thing about Greg Page when he sparred with the teenage Page after returning from Zaire. Page hit so hard it shook his kinfolks in Africa.
    * Ali said the knockdown Frazier scored in the 15th round of their first fight was so hard it jarred his kinfolk in Africa.
    * Ali said Joe Frazier hit him so hard in Manila that his kinfolks in Africa felt it.

And on and on and on.

And James Tillis was stopped a dozen times, but apparently someone needs to show him a video of Tim Witherspoon tearing his head off. Because Tillis clearly doesn't have any memory of that one round blowout.

But he remembers the Shavers fight, because Tillis got up and won.

Wilder most likely hits harder imo, the way he one shotted Domonic Breazeale was insane, and Breazeale had a decent chin and was a 6'7, 250lb+ guy, Wilder also slays Super Heavyweights and not small ones. He's also larger than Shavers and has explosive speed that helps generate enormous power with his long limbs like Thomas Hearns only Wilder loads up on his shots more. But weight wise they're not far apart from eachother so i wouldn't be suprised if Shavers hit harder.

Last but not least they have different types of Power. Shavers is like a lead mace being swung at you by a gorilla while Wilders is like sniper rifle

Shavers looked like he had heavier fists. His ability to bludgeon guys against the ropes was pretty impressive considering he was basically the weight of a rehydrated cruiserweight, and his overhand right looked like carried serious weight as well. Wilder has the speed, the limb length and the springy elasticity to really whip his right hand in though, harder than any single shot Shavers threw.

If I saw this earlier would have a post similar to MarkusFlorez99
I despise Wilder and liked Shavers much more as a sportsman.

However ES mainly fought in an era of CW to small HWs (by today's standards). Wilder is a wiry HW with a huge, snapping right. In all divisions some of the wiry (long) fighters get tremendous leverage on their punches (yes, think Hearns at WW). Answer - Wilder.

Ernie hit harder with every shot with both hands.

    however,
Deontay might have the stronger one hitter quitter right hand Bomb Squad.

    it’s an interesting question.

Wilder has a more snapping quality to his punch and I think he's more likely to catch you with a shot you don't see. Shavers had that heavy upper body musculature and heft that signals a guy that punches right through you with thudding power. I'd fancy Shavers on pure power and I'd fancy Wilder to catch you with the one you don't see coming, if that makes sense.

Shavers was a murderous puncher, Tex cob said it, Larry Holmes said it, Jimmy Young said it, Ron Lyle said it, Joe Bunger said it and so on and so on. I dont see why you're bringing that stuff up

What’s crazy is if Wilder actually learned the proper way to throw most of his punches this wouldn’t even be close.
